NEXT WEEK: Padang Golf Modern, 20 January, 11:00am, Rp.650,000
Tee Set once again had an almost rain free day at the very welcoming KARAWANG INTERNATIONAL for the rather modest green fee of Rp.650,000 – and we thank Director Pak Krisna Dani S. and his staff Rini, Egy and all the others who made our day so enjoyable.
Our Pawang Hujan must have antagonised the great golfer in the sky as around the 16th hole it began to rain but, thankfully, it only lasted for about 10 minutes.
Thanks to all once again for advising of your intention to play – of the 24 who registered, 27 played! Once again, this was a big help when dealing with the Starter who got us away on time from 2 tee boxes. Please continue to advise your intention to play.
The course was in pretty reasonable condition considering the soaking it has had recently. The practice green was running at least twice the speed of the course greens which led to a lot of putts going short – and a relatively high winning low putts number of 30.
Our skill prizes were paid in full regardless of any other prizes, so well done Ric Wymer for his 275 yard drive – and Mel Cantarella for his 282cm from the pin on hole #5. Miracles do happen. Happy to report also that, this time, the appropriate Tee Box signs and result signs were there for all to see and manned by highly skilled and mostly awake forecaddies. Clearly the President did listen to the volley of “constructive criticism” that he received for his less than outstanding performance in this respect at Palm Hill the previous week. Though Tee Set is hardly a democracy, the vox populi get listened to if they complain loud enough!
Tom Alcedo won his first ever “SKIRT” but otherwise had a great game.
James Ross, a real pro, proved he can use his driver for a 250m drive or a 90m flop with equal facility. Saves having to carry too many clubs in the bag of course.
Neil Mullins sunk a 40 footer for birdie on the last hole. Just showing off of course.
“You mean I have to SWING the club!?” said James Hogarth
It was Mel Cantarella’s first round of the year and he cursed his luck to be grouped once again with ex-Tee Set president Ric Wymer. Mel’s day featured a SKIRT with his very first swing of the day, Monster Putter, Most Improved and Nearest the Pin – thus just about managing to come out even on the day. Well done, Mel!!
We also welcomed back the Bender clan for the first time in 2013. After a JD and coke heart starter breakfast (© 1983 Tee Set), the father and son team worked up a healthy thirst during the round, clearing out the beer stocks of each kiosk in the process. Luckily theirs was the last flight out – so no damage done to the other beer guzzlers playing on the day.
Another excellent Sunday for Treasurer Ric Wymer with a very healthy six players qualifying for the privilege of wearing the infamous Tee Set skirt at 50,000 roops a shot – though Tuti was only to capture a couple of the cross-dressers unfortunately.

EVENTS:
BANDUNG BASH at Giri Gahana 29 to 31 March. We have booked all the rooms at the hotel. The best fun and golf of the year. Limited places so first in first served. Register now with Mrs. Endang <endang@kojo.co.id> and you will receive your invitations. Must be registered by 28 Feb.
Finally, we had a stranger in out midst for the Tee Set Championship back in November, a spy from Jakarta Now! who clearly managed to enjoy her time with us as you will see in this excellent piece from January’s edition of Jakarta Now! – where you will also have the pleasure of seeing Ivan Byriel properly executing a chip from off the green. He tells us that happens most years, though we remain to be convinced.
