On Sunday we return once again to the very attractive Palm Hill course off the Jagorawi Tol for our second visit of the year. Your committee has once again managed to obtain an equally attractive rate of Rp.588,000 for this fine course, including shared cart. We will tee off from 1 and 10 at 11:30. Handicaps for Palm Hill can be found here.
To give us a solid idea on numbers and thereby ensure smooth and meaningful negotiations with the Palm Hill starter, kindly complete the “Yes, I am playing” form if you intend joining on Sunday.
Your selfless committee spent several hours at Star Deli in Kemang last evening drinking far too much and flirting with the barmaids ensuring that the 2013 Tee Set Matchplay was well under control and the 1st round draw properly and fairly made.
The draw has thrown up a number of interesting face-offs for the first round including Joseph Peries against immediate past President Ric Wymer which, with Ric’s game coming back on song and a healthy handicap advantage, should be a close one while last year’s winner, David Baglivo, will be fully tested by Aussie iron man, Graham McGeady, assuming the latter has recovered from an exclusive month-long diet of curry, rice and chipati following his return from Rajasthan.
Here is the full draw, any complaints and/or brown envelopes to Jesse Baker.
The first round does of course do no more than set up the two conferences for further play, the first round winners going into the “Emas” or Gold Conference and the “Kuningan” or Brass Conference. After that things proceed to the knockout stages.
Matchplay can now take place at any time from now, including this Sunday at Palm Hill if both adversaries can agree it in time! And, repeating our annual plea, PLEASE get your games played in a timely manner – Jesse has threatened to be very tough with stragglers without a really good excuse this year.
Your committee also went on to discuss initial planning for the 2013 Tee Set Championship and a very special extra event in the near future. It would be wise to expect the unexpected.
One of the great highlights of the Jakarta golf year is of course the SPE event held at Jagorawi with play this time, such are the numbers, being on both the Old and New courses. The tournament is to Jakarta Golf as Ascot and the Derby is to the English racing season, top class and not a cheap skate affair!!
As you will see from the flyer, registration for non-SPE members starts on Monday 11th March; if you are interested then you should not delay as places are usually filled within a day of two of registration being opened.
Hope to see ya Sunday …..
