The usual Interleague Sunday split of course and the Interleague team did a fine job against a strong team in Mad Dogs while there were a very happy 24 Tee Setters enjoying the sun and improved conditions at Pangkalan Jati!
JAGORAWI – Interleague
After the Kadin tournament, which occupied the entire Jags course for the morning, the Interleague went out for a shotgun start at 12:45 using all 18 tee boxes.
Confusion to start with since not all team players were cascaded the information that tee boxes had been changed. Confusion aside it meant we had the course to ourselves and very few hold ups so a 4 hour round was the norm. This type of play suits Tee Set who are always better when the game flows like Bintang during happy hour for some reason
Nice work by the team captain to get the match ups almost 100% spot on with 4 wins out of a possible 5 against the highly rated Mad Dogs team.
The only loser on the day was Wina who was trumped by Yuli; hardly surprising as the latter shot 6 below her handicap with an amazing 76 off the stick.
New recruit Sam Westen won the battle of the sexes by taking his singles match against Yanti Brauti 5 and 4. Lucky for him as otherwise he would never have heard the end of it.
Doubles teams Ric/Mel and Peter/Geoff both won their games 3 and 2, and this despite some nervousness closing out the matches. while Evaldo and Richard finally produced the form we’ve seen during normal Tee Set events and breezed home with a 5 and 4 win.
Peter Reichlmeier was also very happy with longest drive for B player after having only taken the bubble wrap off his new clubs the day before.
Well done to course manager Edwin who pulled the rabbit out of the hat by getting all games completed before dark. Thanks also to the Interleague Committee for another highly successful match play event.
Pangkalan Jati
24 Tee Setters showed at PJ to check out our Pawang Hujan’s assertion that Tee Sets former headquarters was much improved since days of yore, and discovered that he did not speak with forked tongue, the transformation is stark as excluding carts from fairways has had a remarkable effect though, as one who has circumnavigated the course with a buggy axle deep in mud on a number of occasions, it is not difficult to see why.
Our return was blessed with fine if rather hot weather and also, at least if you started on tee box 10, a reasonable 4 1/2 hour round. Those starting on 1 had a less fluent day, though still taking a less than end of days 5 hours.
With the Vice President of everything failing to get the Tee Set computer and all the other paraphernalia into the hands of our secretary in time, your web master’s laptop was brought into service but its cutting edge installation of Windows 8 and Office 2013 proved too much for James Ross’s macros and Active-X controls and, to cut a long story short, we were forced to revert to the excellent manual back up system we have in place for just such contingencies.
Manual worked just fine and remarkably quickly, though Tutu will have to type all the stuff in at the office later. This together with the absence of our loquacious President giving battle at Jagorawi meant that we were all done and dusted and the writer home before dark despite an 11:00 start. Truly a first.
Results
Couple of 84s off the stick saw Graham Stallworthy and Chris Murchison sharing low gross honours while “Simon Q” took full advantage of a 30 handicap to come in with a 66 for the Low Net award.
The Craig family had a happy day with Jackie taking Low Putts with 29 while Don found some form with a net 69.
No skirt available for our traditional skirts photo unfortunately; our VP promises to do better next time;
Detailed, player by player results, can be found here.
Aussie Embassy Charity Golf Day
The Embassy’s social club is clearly a bit better organised than most and gives you plenty of notice of their Charity Golf Day on 29th August – you can read all about it here.
Next Sunday
Next Sunday is the last Sunday of the month of course which means a return to Matoa for the Monthly Medal and a chance of glory once again, not to mention one of those elusive half million roop meat vouchers and a place on the Monthly Medal Winners shield which will be proudly displayed on the wall at our Matoa head quarters; just as soon as your President gets around to it.
If you are joining in the Medal then let us know here as usual.
Hope to see ya next Sunday! .. Tee Set
