Jagorawi and Rainbow Hills

The Day

Now well into the annual leave season and its effects were clearly felt with just 21 Tee Setters exercising their swings today, split over Interleague at Jagorawi and the troops at Rainbow Hills.

InterleagueAt Jags, Tee Set were looking to maintain their improved form and results of late as they took on bottom of the table Jakarta Loose Impediments in the Interleague at Jagorawi, however, things were not to go as planned as the match ended all square at 5 points apiece.

Observation from the Acting President of everything, captaining the side again, “Jakarta Loose Impediments had a strong team that included a 4 handicapper ringer on loan from Sandbaggers!”

Rainbow Hills’ own website rather immodestly, and in appalling English. describes the course as Indonesia’s finest and, while that is debatable, there is no denying it is a very high class course from clubhouse to fairways to greens – and with stunning mountain scenery thrown in for free (not! – ED).

Brilliant weather at the start with blue skies but with this dry season proving quite unworthy of its name, it was not so long before nasty looking black stuff was appearing from the north and threatening to spoil everyone’s day.

Remarkably those who went off tee box 1, and who were past the turn by this stage, experienced the miracle of being in a quiet oasis in the middle of darkness – and finished the round barely touched by the rains, while one group who started from 10 called it a day with lightning threatening and the sirens from what appeared to be Gunung Geulis blasting out its shrill warning.

The Play

Rainbow prizes

With the big guns either on leave or otherwise engaged at Jagorawi, Santi Miller confirmed her recent return to some form with a 47-41-88 to take Low Gross AND Most Improved on a tough course while Cucu Candra played closer to her handicap than anyone else in taking Low Net at 73 and also taking first par for handicappers of 30 and over. With Wina taking 1st birdie it was to fall to George Bevege to stop a clean sweep for the ladies with his 27 putts taking at least one prize for the less fair sex. Well done George, though he did spend most of the day complaining about the 6 handicap strokes that he had lost over the previous week, complaints that it should be said were to elicit scant sympathy for the winner of Low Net on both the two preceding Sundays.

Mike and Ben

Hard to tell that is a wig, Mike!

One Tee Set matchplay decided where Harold Hayne despatched Ben Kidd 5 and 3.

Fuller details on a player by player basis can be found here.

Farewell

Don and Jackie Craig left on Saturday for the long journey to their retirement home in Tucson, Arizona. They would like to have played one further round with Tee Set and we would have liked to raise a glass of the cup that cheers. Tee Setters that stumble across Tuscon are warmly invited for a round in what Don describes as great golf course country!
