Pangkalan Jati – 13th October 2013

The Day

Before we start, we have to relate  that the absence of the all seeing President of Everything looking for Interleague glory at Jagorawi meant that we forgot to take any photos of the day. Apologies from him.

Pangkalan Jati saw 28 Tee Setters blessed with another afternoon of sublime weather, the eighth in a row, a co-operative starter who got us away on time from both 1 and 10,  a decent and more varied than average course in very decent condition – and a reasonably fast round of a little less than four hours. We should perhaps play it more often than we do these days.

A fine day also for new Tee Set recruits, so a warm Tee Set welcome to all of Amanda, Joan. Simon, Renny and Mum and Son combo, Julia and Daniel Wiener. Daniel enjoyed his round very much and even recorded a respectable 44 putts but, at just 9 years old, we kept him out of the Monster Putter competition!

At a similarly sun kissed Jagorawi, the Interleague boys went down to to a 6-4 defeat at the hands of Pocksia, leaving the team in fourth place at season’s end – a significant improvement on last year’s wooden spoon position.

The Play

Prizes

A Welcome Back to Mustafa which saw him not only take Low Gross in the absence of the stars at Jagorawi with an 84, but also see off the challenge of Nuri Puzey with a convincing win in their Tee Set Matchplay.

Thurmond Borden had a remarkable day, managing the amazing double of Monster Putter AND Low Net of 70 – we guess it is all about getting your handicap right! A notable performance also by Gerard Gresser whose wild Gallic oaths were a little less in evidence than usual as he shot a net of 71. Well done, both.

Well done also to Mehdi Davoudi and Tom Grace for owning up to failing to reach the ladies’ tee – and apologies for having failed to bring the skirt and wig – and enable you to enter Tee Set recorded history.

Fuller player by player details can be found here.

HOGS Charity Golf Day

Certainly one of the most worthy of the many charities that you can support in Jakarta is the Yayasan HOG. Entirely run by volunteers, the Yayasan passes on 97 cents on the dollar to their supported charities, primarily one that performs reconstructive facial surgery on the young and newly born children of impoverished Indonesian families – and born afflicted with cleft lip and cleft palate.

It is impossible to overestimate the transformational effect on young lives that such surgery can bring about. We heartily recommend your supporting the Yayasan’s golfing event on Saturday the 7th December when they have a great day planned, starting with a slap up breakfast at the Kristal Hotel before Magic Buses transport all participants to the course, and back again afterwards.

Tee Set already has one team of four registered – and we hope to fly the Tee Set flag with many more. Take a look and sign up here for a day of fun – and the knowledge that your participation will directly change a youngster’s life.

Next Week

The consistently table topping turnout we get for the Rancamaya course, despite its somewhat challenging location, is testament to just what a great course it is. This kind of quality – and tough to beat green fees etc, including compulsory shared cart, of just 555,000 roops mean we expect another great attendance next Sunday. Register here now to make sure of your place.

See yah at Rancamaya – when we promise to take lots of photos 🙂 …. Tee Set

PS due to an appointment with a beach, there will be no Tee Set mid-week at Pondok Cabe tomorrow, Tuesday 15th October – normal service resumed next week.
