Tee Set’s got Talent

The Day

A shotgun start today from 7 tee boxes on the back nine due to the Thai Golfers group of 60 players also doing a shotgun on the front. Nevertheless no major hold ups despite the numbers on the course.

Drizzling rain throughout the first 9 was a nuisance but kept the temperature nicely down in the low twenties, though many a caddy could be seen shivering like it was a Winter’s day.

The course was a challenge on a par with Lido Lakes played last week, although lacking in the knee-high rough sported by Lido.

The red tees were a long way from the blues as evidenced by the high number of skirts recorded. We must come back again.

RS-Welcome Backs

Just one Newcomer, Mike Davey, to report out of the 44 Tee Setters who showed up at the popular and challenging Riverside Course. A warm welcome to Tee Set, Mike.

15 Welcome Backs, however, with Christian Engstr0m leading the pack in setting a new record of a massive 75 weeks since last in Tee Set action, seeing off Peter Boyd (45 weeks) and Javier Serrano (38). Another notable returnee was Ben Kidd at 33 weeks, husband of our erstwhile secretary, Tuti.

Sadly, after more farewells than Frank Sinatra, today was the last event for Christian Molau after a couple of years with Tee Set.  His wife got so tired of waiting that she bought the flight tickets home herself.

All the best, Christian.

The Play

RS-Skill Prizes

RS Ben KiddTop marks this week to Ben Kidd who, despite not having picked up a club since last playing with us all of those 33 weeks ago, played 1 under his handicap to take the week’s Low Net honours. Well done, Ben.

Best round of the day off the stick of 83 by all of Simon Reynolds, Mark Fiorello, Mark Johnson, and Neil Mullins – with Mark Johnson taking the prize on a countback.

A 3 way tie for Low Putts rather disturbed the equanimity of the Treasurer after harvesting so many Skirt fines.RS Skirts

Fuller, player by player results can be found here while more photos of the day can be found on the Tee Set Gallery.

2014 Tee Set Matchplay

Congratulations to George “pulpy” Beverage for winning his matchplay against Mel Meeds even after a big night out – and just 3 hours of quality sleep.

Next Up

Sunday next sees us at Jagorawi.

Tee off is 09:30 for Interleague but with the course being quiet the Tee Set stroke play group will also get involved in the shot-gun start from tee boxes #1, # 17 and #18, so don’t be late.

All comers are welcome so don’t miss this opportunity to experience one of the premier courses in Jakarta. Green fees, including shared cart, will be Rp955K and there will be cheap draft San Miguel beer on tap in the club house rooms after the game for those who don’t leave thirst on the Jags fairways.

Sign up for here for Jags so that we get the numbers about right.

See ya Sunday, Tee Set
