Absolutely no comment on this one!!

Surely it should say toilet cleaners!!

The Day

After a lazy breakfast in Cecilia’s Café, the committee and secretary headed down a quiet Jl Ampera towards the toll. All looked good until the Puncak turn off was reached where a dozen of Jakarta’s finest waved us on.

George Bevage pulled out his electronic Google Maps and directed the driver to the next place to turn left, which was at the Ciawi lights. Once we had  squeezed past the triple parked angkots it was plan sailing and the club house was reached with a total trip time of 1 hour 15 minutes. Not bad considering the rather long distance from the centre of Kemang and the brainless angkot drivers of Ciawi.

Some others were not so fortunate with Chris Lever giving up the ghost after having been in a taxi for two hours from Country Woods and the turnout for the day was a rather disappointing 19.

Welcome backs

Remarkably, a week without any Newcomers to welcome and a very unimpressive cast of Welcome Backs in terms of numbers and length of absence with field leader, Rick Zacker, coming in with a rather miserable 5 weeks!

The President’s tee off from tee box one rates a mention. Still winding down from a very heavy bachelor’s event at Rainbow two days before, his very first swing of the day sent the ball soaring into the stratosphere only for it to return to earth not more than 20 feet in front of the blue tees and certainly not far enough to pass the ladies tee. First blood to the treasurer who was in the same flight rubbing his hands in glee.

Also in the same flight and not to be outdone by the President’s fine effort, George Bevege on the very next hole went for the big heave-ho only to connect with a tree in the middle of the fairway.

No problem thinks George and spends the next 10 minutes searching fruitlessly around the tree (sic) for his ball only to be told very timidly by his caddy that there was a ball 100m back down the hill towards the tee box.

So it turned out that George’s 52 degree wedge would have got him further than his driver. All a bit of a laugh but George, being a master of recovery, still managed to bogey the hole.

Geoff raises a glassThe apres golf was more than the prize giving this week as Geoff Thwaites invited all present to raised a glass to toast President Reichlmeier’s forthcoming wedding and the couple’s future happiness and health. All the best for your big day from us all, Peter.

The Play

Skill

Jaco

Jaco Zaayman proved once again that shooting at or close to your handicap, no matter how big it is, can bring rewards with another Low Net win today.

Despite the close encounter with a tree described above, “Pulpy” Bevage managed to prise Simon Reynolds fingers off the Low Gross prize for once

Peter Bush has been on fire recently but had to content himself with just 1st Birdie today while Neil Mullins didn’t hang around in winning 1st Sandy, managing it on his very first hole played.
Boobies

Skirt 1A bad week for Hossam Elwakil as he took a Skirt to go with his Monster Putter award. Thanks for the contributions Hossam!!

As noted previously, Hossam was joined in the Cross Dressers Circle by the President of Somethings – and a Jan Jelinek for whom it is just an old friend dropping by. Jan also managed the double with a Most Strokes of 12!

Fuller, player by player results here while more photos of a fine day can be found on the Tee Set Gallery.

Next Up

We are looking for a good turn out this Sunday in support of the 6th round of Interleague. Up against Sentul Swingers who are looking to recover some pride after a slow start while Tee Set looks to maintain its current momentum and stay in contention for second place overall.

Green fees of 955,000 with shared buggy reflect the quality of the course and facilities. Tee off at 9:30.

Whether you are playing in the Interleague or just normal Tee Set Sunday then remember to sign up here.

After the round is over it is Geoff Thwaites birthday bash Part Deux which, if last year’s Part Un is anything to go by, should be a riot and not to be missed.

Finally, congratulations also to Brenda who celebrates one year as the Tee Set secretary on Sunday – and what a fine job she has done thus far. Many thanks Brenda for your support of Tee Set, we need it!!
