Jagorawi New Course, Sunday 21st September

Playing for who? ... Tee Setters play for many more teams besides Tee Set !!

Playing for who? … Tee Setters play for many more teams besides Tee Set !!

The Day

A very decent turnout for Jagorawi of 29 Tee Setters and this despite the absence of the entire committee engaged on various wedding duties. That their absence was is in any way connected with the Interleague’s finest win for years, a 10-0 against Sentul Swingers is clearly a scurrilous and unsubstantiated rumour 🙂

Hot and a little cloudy throughout the round which along with a course in fine shape made for ideal playing conditions and everyone getting round in five hours or less meant that we were able to look at the huge late afternoon downpours under cover in the restaurant as we downed our food and drink and boogied along with the Band from Bandung.

tettyA fantastic personal golfing milestone for Tetty as she gets a hole-in-one at the New Course’s par three second hole – and was unable to get rid of a broad grin all day! Well done Tetty, great stuff.

Newcomers

Two Newcomers to welcome this week in the shape of Craig Nygerin and Hale Ellis. Craig had something of a torrid time as you will discover – but it will get better by playing lots of Tee Set, Craig!

A warm welcome to them both.

Some rather more substantial Welcome Backs this week than of late with the Brautis, Yati and Arvied, at 40+ weeks, with Yati not having been seen since the 2014 Tee Set Championship.

Welcome back to all, where have you been?!?!?

the old crooner

Due to finishing as early as 2.30 pm, the crowds for the usual Geoff “Centurion” Thwaites’ birthday were less massive than usual, however, those many who remained saw this as no more than an opportunity to drink and sing more, none more enthusiastically than that old crooner Craig Ewers, who was even more boisterous than usual following his participation in the Interleague win!

The PlaySkill

A five under par 67 from Jason Vanderlinde saw him entering the winners circle for the first time for Low Net while it didn’t take Sam Westen too get back to winning ways with a Low Gross of just 74 off the stick on what can be a murderous course.

jagsNewcomer Hale Ellis settled in quickly with a 1st Birdie award on his first ever hole played with Tee Set!

Chris Lever also didn’t hang around in securing 1st Sandy on his very first hole played while On Shenman secured Most Improved by 8 strokes and Jaco Zaayman is getting used to pocketing 1st Par for Handicap >= 30

boobies

On Shenman had to dig into her Most Improved winnings to fund her 41 putts while Craige Nygrin picked up a skirt first time out and Most Strokes on a hole to go with it 😦

That Craige should be the only one in a field of 29 to pick up a Skirt fine on a notoriously narrow and demanding course will take some explaining to the Immediate Past President of Most Things upon his return from wedding duties in Semarang or wherever it was.

More detailed results of the day’s play here while a whole bunch of photos can be found on the Tee Set Gallery.

Interleague

Interleague

As you will have divined from the introduction, our Interleague boys did us proud against Sentul Swingers in achieving a clean sweep, 10-0.

Happily, the best Tee Set result in years and one which puts us in a position to finish second in the League – which would also be our best for years.

Well done all, some marvelous personal performances from which the team was to benefit greatly.

It is good to be able to hold our heads up high again !!

Next Up

One of the Tee Setters most popular courses is of course Palm Hills and, next Sunday, we have a welcome return there for the first time since early August/ Palm Hills is also very popular with the Treasurer as he can almost certainly rely upon a healthy quota of players to fill his coffers with Skirt fines, unlike Jagorawi today 😦

Palm Hills is now a no-walking course though green fees of just 525,000 including cart help explain part of its popularity.

Tee off from 1 & 10 at 11:30 and we may even get away a little early so don’t cut it too fine – and register here as usual.

Ryder Cup 2014 – an invitation to Tee Setters

Ryder Cup Flyer

Thursday sees the start of the inimitable Ryder Cup event at Gleneagles in Scotland with the European team looking to extend their winning run against a highly talented USA team.

The event will be available live on more big screens than you can shake a stick at Fez in Kemang after Tee Set next Sunday.

If you fancy watching the final day’s action unfold in what should be a great atmosphere – and enjoy a buffet dinner, free flow beer from 6.30pm until 9.30pm and some great door prizes then, if you send your scribe a confirmatory e-mail, as a Tee Set member you will also get a free sleeve of Pro V1s.

Incidentally, while attendance at the golf earlier is not a pre-requisite, being a Tee Set member is to get that free sleeve. The offer is however restricted to the first 26 Tee Setters who register so don’t hang around!

See ya at Palm Hill !! …. Tee Set
