The Day and the Play

The closing Interleague event of the year saw us providing the largest group of participants with 16 Tee Setters signed up, followed by the Cloggies with 12.

The rather unusual hybrid format employed on the day was thoroughly enjoyed by all and proved beyond doubt that if you could have more than one swing off every tee box then your score would improve by at least 100% (eh? – ED).

Happy to say that Tee Set provided both the first place team and runner-up in this format and that your committee has committed to putting something similar into the Tee Set calendar for 2015 as a novelty.

1st place – Chris Chan, Richard Mau, Hossam, Sofree

2nd place – Ric, Bushy, Tetty, Malty

.. and runners-up can be pretty happy too ....

.. and runners-up can be pretty happy too ….  with Ric part of the team this time …

Tee Set’s success was to extend to almost all categories with Peter Bush outstanding in easily taking the longest drive award with an absolute smash past 250m.

The barbie after the game was perhaps the biggest highlight of a day of highlights with Kees de Korver cooking up a storm with his marinated beef and chicken topped off with chilly beans. Much appreciated effort from Kees in keeping the hordes well fed!

The day was topped off with the Cloggies being awarded their shirt award for the Interleague 2015 winner and Mad Dogs as runners-up came away with a nice laser engraved coffee tumbler apiece. Joseph Peries was adjudicated the MVP for managing not to lose a single match in the whole series.

Well done to us too, as we managed to tie for second place but were to lose out rather unluckily to Mad Dogs on a count back. We look forward to putting in an even stronger challenge for the trophy next year.

The Interleague committee headed by Anthony King closed out the day with a thank you to all for their participation throughout the year – and to Edwin Palmer as manager of the Jags course for looking after the group so well, while Geoff Thwaites on behalf of us all thanked Anthony for his time and efforts leading the committee throughout another successful year of competition.

With all the pocket pissing done, the single malt whisky was cracked open by Anthony. Nobody remembers who was in the last group to leave the club house for home but it goes without saying there was nothing left but fumes in that bottle of single malt.

Weather fantastic throughout – and the trip home to Jakarta the fastest ever experienced for an afternoon’s round at Jags. All in all a very fine day.

Weclome to the 2014 Tee Set Championship
One would hardly imagine that we would need to tell you what is up next but, just in case you have been on the dark side of the moon for the last month or three – or perhaps a seismic camp in Papua, we have something called the Tee Set Championship coming up next Sunday, the absolute pinnacle of the Tee Set year!

An up-to-date list of registered Tee Setters is here.

Have a look at this page in order to fully brief yourself on the venue, schedule, prize and food and drinks and heaven knows what else. But if you know nothing else, know that it is a 7:15 am shotgun start from 13 tees so be there in good time, certainly no later that 6:30 am.

The field is complete and the flights more or less determined, so there is nothing more to say other than, see ya at Matoa !!!! …. Tee Set
