Lotus Lakes, a long way down the Cikampek Tol is as far out East as we go, but journey times of around 1 hour in BOTH directions on Sunday was an absolute pleasure compared with the much geographically closer courses off the Jagorawi Tol courses these days – the nightmare of the Sunday evening returns from there, competing with the returning Puncak traffic, is not guaranteed to enthuse anyone.
The gentle shift away from the Jagorawi Tol courses effected by your committee for this year’s programme can surely be expected to continue next.
Indonesian Independence Day tomorrow of course and a number of our less sartorially challenged members came out in Merah-Putih to mark the proximity of the great day. Well done them.
The promised start from two tee boxes at 11:10 failed to materialise with the Starter alleging we had booked just 5 flights and instead he got all 8 groups away from the first tee on the Jasmine course.
With that and up to 3 hours to negotiate those first nine holes there was to be no Starter tip this week.
Much faster when we moved onto the Lotus course for the second nine but 5 hours plus overall was a bit of a slog.
Excellent, spacious changing rooms and some very tasty food for a golf clubhouse served to repair some of the earlier reputational damage. But not all.
A very healthy 5 Newcomers to report this week, though we have some doubts about that designation for at least Kim Pham – welcome regardless, and enjoy your golf with Tee Set all!
A very modest 11 weeks for the biggest Welcome Backs, with the Gaisler family holding all 4 of the top places after their return from a rather extended leave in Europe.
The Play
Top honours today to nowadays regular Tee Setter, David Baglivo, topping both Low Gross and Low Net overall with a fine 81-14-67 while our own pocket battleship Barbora wasted no time at all getting back into the swing of things with 85 off the stick – and she must have our next Interleague opponents quivering in their fancy golf shoes.
The Web Guy finally showed a return to some form with a net 68 to take Low Net – B Grade while Malty took the same award for C Grade with a rather higher than usual net 79.
First Birdie and First Sandy taken on the very first hole by Grumpy and Goetz respectively. The responsibilities of organising the 32nd Anniversary event with partner Octa is clearly not affecting the plain speaking Aussie’s game.
A relatively modest haul of just four Cross-Dressers this week though their quality more than made up for the quantity. “Cucu in a Tutu” added a little class to the usual photo, with her presence explained by failing to clear the red tee box at one point.
With 45 putts apiece, Jana and Kim were fortunate to get away with what would be a Monster Putter winning total most weeks, only being saved by Newcomer Niklas’s impressive 49 putts. Going to have to sharpen up on those greens, Niklas!
Most Strokes was once again a nice little earner with Malty, Mel and Goetz all contributing to the Treasury as a result of 11 strokes on a hole apiece.
More detailed player by player results are here while more photos of the day are on the Tee Set Gallery.
Next Up
The format at Sewangan is going to be a little different, reflecting the rather extraordinary nature of the day, with Tee Set’s first Texas Scramble for many years if not forever. The four man teams will come out of a hat to ensure the various talent levels are spread out evenly – and the whole lot then handicapped. Full details will be in our Thursday post.
Tee off at 10:30 from 1&10 and with bargain basement green fees of 330,000 roops walking – or 490,000 with shared cart. Register here as usual if you are playing just the Sunday – or go here if you also want to join us for some awesome fun on the Saturday afternoon and the evening BBQ, there are still a few rooms left.
A number of special 32nd anniversary Tee Set golf hats will be available for purchase next Sunday for a bargain 50,000 roops with all proceeds going to the incredible HOG Yayasan, a charity that does amazing things for the lives of Indonesian kids afflicted from birth by the terrible Cleft Palate/Cleft lip conditions. Don’t be caught without the new hat, it will be fineable offence apparently 🙂
See ya at Sewangan!! … Tee Set
