The Day

Not sure if we lost any to the bungalows today…..

Late post this week – your scribe was travelling – thanks to Pieter for jumping in on Sunday to help Brenda out (pictured here) while the rest of us were on Interleague duties – and to Ric for making a start on this week’s blog – much appreciated!

Modern remains one of the premier first choice courses for Tee Set on any given Sunday. Why? It has all the necessary ingredients necessary for a fun day out. Easy access, fantastic facilities and friendly staff, a golf layout with very little OB or other danger off the tee box, and lovely caddies.

The tally of 21 players was a little light compared to the usual numbers because of the last round of Interleague match play was being played at Jagorawi, involving almost 20 Tee Set regulars on various teams. Welcome back Mo after 88 weeks away and to Ken after 33 weeks (surely can’t be that long since Rancamaya – I think we may have missed his card that day – apparently Billy spiked his drink). Welcome to Supachai and Boonvarit for the first time.

Congratulations to our Tee Set Interleague team. We blew away all opposition during the year (except Mad Dogs who are full of Tee Setters anyway) and were well out in front as best team in the competition. Shows incredible depth in our group since overall we used 20 players during the 2015 competition. Last Sunday an Adults Only Tee Set beat the prickly Sandbaggers 6 and 4 to leave us on 54 points out of a total available of 70. Good wins to Murcho with a 7 and 6, Joseph and Craig reuniting for a 6 and 5 win and Ric and Wina winning 2 Up. Incredible achievement over the year.

The Play

Modern

While light on numbers there was not shortage of enthusiasm or skill. Richard Mau and “Coach” Ken Runyon shared the Low Net A Grade and Low Gross prize categories – Richard leading in both categories, with a 82 gross (net 72) and Ken coming in next on Low Gross with a 86.

James was getting valuable practice for the Tee Set match play semi-final and took low net for the B grade with a 76 (handicap is safe!), after Manfred (with a nett 73) pipped him but was awarded First Birdie. Boonvarit’s 22 putts must be close to a record and Chaovalit was again in the money with most improved of 9 strokes.  Jaturoporn and Luiz split the Low Net C Grade and First Par Over 30 finishing 1st and 2nd in both categories.  No sandy pars were recorded!  All photos – and others of the after match – available here

And now for the photo we love…a bountiful harvest of 5 skirts a group made of only 21 players?  More money for the Treasurer to pour back into you at the Championship event on the 29th November.

Well done everyone for successfully combining another great Tee Set round with a victorious Interleague performance.
