Kedaton 15th November 2015

The Day

Kedaton may be 31km out on the Merak Tol but it was a super smooth run.  Lots of early birds, helped by your scribe’s tee time typo of 11.14 instead of 11.44…ah well…made for an early start.  The first group tee’d off at 1130 and raced around in under 4 and a half hours, thanks to great weather and a well managed course.  The course was in fantastic condition despite the lack of water.  It was also a treat to be able to walk a course for a change.

Given the boys weekend in Surabaya, a great turn out of 47, including 6 newcomers and welcome backs of  RJ (56 weeks) and Mark (29) and Rick (31).

The Play

results kedaton

Kedaton has its share of water hazards but is generally a fair test, with well placed bunkers, large true greens and plenty of coconut trees to bounce your ball off.  Low net for the day in A grade went to Tim (74), B grade to Ric (72) and C to Cucu (75) after she had finished a warm up nine with Tome before play.  With Tim wining Low Net, Barbora took out Low Gross with an 82, quickly taking revenge after Daniel’s upset last week.

Three tee setters tamed the greens with only 29 putts -great to see Mel and Pramoth up there with the cash, joined by newcomer Andrew making  his first day out a freebie.

In other skill prizes, Rasmus took first sandy on the 4th and Mark first birdie on the second.  Liz also got special mention scoring her first birdie on only her fifth competitive game – keep at it Liz!  The Thai guys Sarawut and Jaturaporn joined the winner’s circle taking out Most Improved and First par over 30 handicap. Unfortunately they had to pay some of their winnings back in fines.

And now for the boobie prizes…..a near record number of 12 skirts.

Mo had gone before presentation – probably to find a new putter after 42 strokes on the greens.  Sarawut lost his remaining winnings with Most Strokes after getting lost on one hole with a 12.

Overall a great day of golf at Kedaton….but a slow drive home, just to take the edge off it. Thanks to Chris Smith for starting off registrations and Brenda as usual. No reports from the Boys in Surabaya – what goes on tour stays on tour!

Tee Set Matchplay

The unfinished semifinal between James Ross and the Singing President continued with James 2 up and 5 to play.  After two holes the match was back to square, before the SP got lost in bunkers to lose the hole, leaving the last to square.

It came down to a chipping contest, which those who have seen the SP chip would know was not promising for him, yet he managed to get it up and down for par to win the hole and square the match after 18 holes.  Normally this would lead to a putt off but as it was possible to continue to extra holes they did.  James capitalised on a tactical error by SP to win the hole and the match 1 Up to advance to the final.

Well done James, great battle to the finish!

Tee Set Championships, 29th November, Matoa Nasional

Next Up – End of Year Interleague Team Scramble, Jagorawi 9.30am 1.050.000Rp including shared cart

In case we haven’t told you, Tee Set won the Interleague Championship this year…..and therefore we join the end of year Team Scramble with big smiles and bragging rights.  Tee Setters have enjoyed team events previously and this is a modified scramble using stableford scoring.  Don’t worry your team captains will guide you through it.

Put your flight preferences in the comments box when you register here, we will generally try to pair you as requested but will also try to mix it up as this worked well at Sawangan and gives everyone a chance to mingle.

There will be a free BBQ after play, prizes and lots of beer.  It’s one of the highlights of the year so try to make it.
