IGK Hi-lites

The Day

A very respectable 29 Tee Setters showed for the last Monthly Medal of 2016 twixt Christmas and New Year, and were rewarded with a course in tip-top condition and some rather unseasonably hot and sunny weather – and not a drop of rain.

Most were on parade and enjoying breakfast in good time and, with a near empty course beckoning, the first flights got away a full 40 minutes early.

Confusion on the course where some very old and battered wooden Nearest to the Pin and Longest Drive “thingies” appeared and were duly ignored by most as not being the ones with the tasteful and distinctive Tee Set motif emblazoned on them. It later transpired that they had in fact been ordered by us – but the results themselves were never to appear so, if you actually had anything recorded then jolly bad luck.

joeMC-ing and scoring after play for the first time in a long time was the former Committee Member with Special Responsibilities for Web Stuff – ably assisted in the scoring by his wife Mrs Pie; many thanks to them both, especially the latter for sorting out Joe Alci who has never really got the hang of the scoring sheet 🙂

Santi also handed over to Brenda a Xmas card signed by us all, and a Pondok Indah Mall gift voucher as a small mark of our appreciation for her fine work over the past year.

The Play

IGK Summary

tettyRunaway Medal winner was Jaco Zaayman with a near unbelievable net 57 from an 83 off the stick combined with a 26 Handicap – with the former also good enough for Low Gross. The attention of the Handicap Committee cannot be far behind 🙂

Grade Prizes to Fernando, Wina and Tetty for A, B and C respectively, so a very good showing from the ladies on a day when there were just four of them.

Amongst the minor prizes were 1st Birdie to both Keith Miller and Simon Reynolds – and on the very first hole at that – while Low Putts of 26 was enough to secure the prize, almost inevitably these days by that well-known fringe dweller, Mark Johnson.

skirtsA somewhat disappointing 4 skirts only, this on a course that generally offers up a rather better skirt ratio – and a Monster Putter of a miserable non-fine bearing 39 – though some small consolation for the absent treasurer in Most Strokes on a hole being shared at 11 by both James Ross and Craig Edwards. Thanks guys.

Fuller, player by player results here – and more photos of the day on the Tee Set Gallery.

2016 Programme

1st draft is now sorted by Wina and is hopefully to be fine-tuned by your indefatigable committee on licensed premises in the near future.

With the end of our existing contract at Imperial coming up with the February Medal, the immediate Past Vice-President of web-affairs, in the absence of all the grown-ups sunning themselves in far-away places, sought the views of members on what might be done from March onwards.

The options appear to be to stay at Imperial or take on Riverside or Cengkareng, which both appear amenable to our regular presence. The view was a definite “no” for Riverside, some support for Cengkareng and a majority in favour of staying right where we are.

To get the views of those who were not fortunate to play Imperial and indeed formalise and quantify views a little we will have one of our rare polls on the issue after our very first ever round at Cengkareng a week on Sunday.

Next Up

Some time since we have darkened Pondok Cabe’s doorstep, so a welcome return to the Tee Set friendly fairways and attractively priced refreshments of this rather under-rated course Sunday next.

There are currently issues with the main drag out to the course however and we will offer some advice on an alternative route in our post on Friday.

Green fees of 410,000 walking or 520,000 sharing a buggy. Register here to join in the fun.

See yah at Pondok Cabe …. Tee Set

PS Don’t panic, strictly for ornament, Xmas water ……..

Don't panic
