The Day

The Singing President was to have something of a bizarre and truncated day by adopting a rarely invoked LIFO (Last in First Out) policy.  However in the short time he was with us, he managed to sow utter confusion by going to the wrong starting tee box for a nice long chat – causing his group to miss their allotted tee time and this was to be followed string of events during the day including a near miss from the flight behind who were firing in missiles before the green was clear….well in fairness, the green was clear but the aim was off.  Words and signals were thrown the full 140 metres across water and sincere apologies were later provided, all sweet!  A hazard that we all need to be particularly wary of in large turnouts.

Great to see Tee Set ladies again out in force…some pictured here before play.

Shendy was mistaken for a newcomer but in reality she was one of our all-time leaders in the welcome backs after 256 weeks…..pre modern Tee Set records.  Muhammad and Susanty were also back after over 130 weeks.  Great to see you back!

A lot of newcomers including Mick’s mates from Perth who deserve an award for endurance after their gruelling three day schedule taking in all the best drinking holes in Jakarta.

Skirts record

It is quite possible on a hot day at  Cengkareng to get tired walking from the blue tees to the red tees alone, and this was to play its part in inducing a mind boggling 17 skirts on Sunday – blowing past Imperial and Matoa on a humble 14 apiece – and setting a new all-time Tee Set record in the process as you will see from the table opposite. Well done all, we can only imagine that record will stand for some time!

On behalf of a very happy treasurer, we would like to express our thanks everyone, and it was everyone this week, who contributed their 50,000 roops 🙂

And in recognition we have brought the skirt photo upfront.

The Play

C Summary

More detailed, player by player results here and lots of photos of the day on the Tee Set Gallery.

Three sub 80 rounds and some very good net rounds showed Tee Setters learning how to master the Cengkers course.  Murcho returned to his old stamping ground where he was a member for many years and won Low Net A grade with 66 tying with Billy for low gross with 78. Murcho was reported to be still on a high from his round on Tuesday night where he shared his success with the crowd at the Jaya Pub…what’s golf they asked? Jaroslav and Jana kept B and C net grade in the family with excellent rounds of 68 and 73.

In other prizes, Tom found his range with 27 putts, Mark and Ronald got off to flyers with birdies on the first, Mo was first into and out of the beach but shot off home before the photo (was there a skirt involved?…no as it turned out). Fantastic effort for Kim who showed her improvement with first par over 30 handicap and not sure what happened to Jim’s front nine but a 17 shot improvement on the back nine won him the money. The skirts dominated collections this week, but we can’t forget  Shendy who was welcomed back with Monster Putter after 52 putts and Most Strokes on a hole with 12.

Before moving on to other topics, we thought we would invite Tee Setters to suggest a caption for this photo of normally mild mannered Mike and Matchplay El Supremo James.

2016 Matchplay

Tom Grace and Chris Lever  completed their second round match with Chris up 3 and 1.

Tom reported that Chris shrugged off a poor driving day with some masterful draws into the par 3’s and wished Chris luck in the next round.

HOGFest

Great night, great price and one for the whole family – and with the entire cash surplus going to Tee Set’s favourite charity, a charity that funds unbelievable work to transform the lives of Indonesian kids born with Cleft Palate and/or lip!2016 HOGFEST PosterWe would love to see a great Tee Set turnout to keep the entire Tee Set committee company – they sometimes get lonely.

As a special free bone, you can get your photo taken with a couple of fully leather clad Harley Davidson riders – and tell your friends you drank chicken blood with them, though you will have to bring your own live chicken if you don’t want to have to lie.

Next Up

Greg Norman was up to his mischievous best when he designed Riverside, the closest of the Jagorawi Tol courses and the venue for this week’s Tee Set.  Caddies love to tell how the Great White Shark himself had a double par on one of his treacherous par 3s. Register here as usual.
