BSD Hilites

The Day

The clouds blocked the sun and kept in the heat and humidity, creating a sweaty bunch of Tee Setters.  Humidity aside, the experience at BSD was a stark improvement on last week, starting on time and, with a few exceptions caused by slowish Tee Setters, we raced through the rounds, many of us finishing within 4 and a half hours.  Brilliant course, fast and true greens, Jack Nicklaus managed to create a mountain course in the flatlands of the west.  With the exception of beer prices, where a glass cost the same as a bottle (take note for next time), BSD put on a great day, even supplying a microphone to the Singing President for presentations.

Special welcome back to Sofree and Bob and Nenden (pictured here) and welcome to newcomers Jeffri and Jari.  Bob and Nenden have been long time supporters of Tee Set and joined the Singing President, with highlights of the round being Nenden deciding to join the fellas off the white tees, a pair of skirts from Bob, a chip in from Nenden on the 6th and a miraculous shot on the 18th which travelled 50 metres forward before ricocheting off a coconut palm and landing back at her feet.

Tee Set Membership Cards were distributed to some lucky Tee Setters, allowing them to start accessing member benefits, including 30% off food and beverages from Shangrila and free entry to BATS, discounts from Santi’s Premium Pies and much much more…..

The Play

BSD Summary

26297972961_69d4f7457a_mLast week’s newcomer Joshua (in red shorts here) had the round of the day with a 76 off the stick.  He has yet to qualify for a Tee Set handicap but Interleague Captain Ric is already signing Joshua up as our next deadly weapon.  Pocket rocket Daniel made up for Senayan, this time winning the countback for Net A grade from an unlucky Bags, who suffered doubly by meeting an in-form Mick Dodsworth in matchplay.

Mick took Net C Grade honours with a 69 and the Singing President joined the winners, to the usual calls from the peanut gallery, taking Net B Grade with a net 66.

The skills prizes went to Bushy for Low Putts, Andre for Most Improved after a sleepy/sloppy first nine, James for First Birdie and Jaroslav for First Sandy Par.  Malty ensured he had a photo to himself by having the First Par Over 30 (Bas was away!) and being in the shower during presentations.

In the booby prizes, Kim stepped up for Most Strokes, accompanied by Matt who gallantly stepped in for Kokom as Monster Putter.  Matt’s 45 putts made him second, with Kokom’s 60 putts challenging but not quite reaching Dede’s recent effort of 61. Meager pickings for the Treasurer with only 6 skirts.  Fines were collected from those who left early, leaving KK, Sudhir and the King of Skirts VP Mel left to face the camera.
