Rancamaya Play and Stay, and much else …..

RM01

The Day

RM05 family affairRancamaya is one of the true Jakarta area greats of course, and those who hadn’t played the course before now know why it is right up there. Recent spiking and sanding on some of the greens was hardly to detract from play on this quite gorgeous course.

The weekend was kicked off nicely with a record short trip of just 45 minutes from Kemang to the Rancamaya Hotel.

Just under 30 players signed up for a Saturday post-lunch tee time and despite having 10 flights of visiting Koreans arriving just before Tee Set a fast rain free round was enjoyed by all.

Then it was back to the hotel for a quick shower followed by a B-B-Q dinner with free flow Czech beer sponsored by Jan Janda. Made such a difference to the Bintangs we are all so accustomed to. There was also a nice array of red and white wines sponsored by Tee Set fines and fees recovered through the year so far. All hotel booking and other arrangement were done by Jan and Juergen so many thanks  guys and also thanks to Herman for the great room rate and taking care of the group over the weekend. Further happenings

Sunday was of course the Tee Set competition against D.O.G.S and HOGs with 8 match play 2 ball pairings to be decided. Although the booked tee time was 12:30 all non over nighting players from D.O.G.S were already assembled in the club house ready to go by 10:30. Obviously this was planned by DOGS captain Mark Johnson to upset the normally well organised and well drilled Tee Set group and the plan worked beautifully.

Tee Set captain Ric scrambled to put the groupings together last-minute without a thought as to handicaps or strategy. As the players left for their tee boxes Ric was last seen running back to the hotel to find his playing partner and check out of the hotel.

RM07 Farewell to Chazz

A sad farewell to Chazz Hassig this week with his departure for pastures new in Canada imminent. Chazz’s appearance were a little restricted by commitment to his boys’ soccer development, however, he has always been a great supporter and not least a source of Duty Free when we needed it for the Championship etc. Thanks Chazz, enjoy the frozen north and remember us fondly!

The Play

RM08 a HHOGS thannk u

Some good support to the event from the HOGS who presented ourselves and the DOGS with certificates of appreciation for our continuing support for their absolutely outstanding charity.

RM09 Its a challenge

Mark receiving the perpetual trophy for DOGS winning the latest round of the Challenge Match with Tee Set. Look after it well Mark, you are merely keeping it warm for us 🙂

Without going into great detail (the pairing sheet and results are still in Rancamaya), DOGS took the day with five and a half points to Tee Set’s two and half. Congratulations DOGS. Even more importantly, during the presentations the hat was passed around for donations to get more smiles on kid’s faces as part of the HOGs cleft palate surgery program and another Rp5M was raised for a great cause.

Wine and more Czech beer was made available by Tee Set to celebrate the day a gesture that the DOGS will reciprocate when the next event rolls around. When it was all said and done we were all treated to a fast trip home with just 1 hour back to the Star Deli. Wouldn’t it be so nice if driving in Indonesia was like that all the time?

RM02 from 10

Bogor RayaAlways takes the breath away to stand on the tee box at either the 1st or 10th at Rancamaya, this is the 10th of course.

Next up

Another trip down the Jagorawi Tol at the very best time of the year – and we hope and expect to have the same pleasurable experience as today with light traffic going AND coming back as the fasting month takes its toll on the populace’s enthusiasm for visiting the Puncak.

This time it is to another quite amazing course, Bogor Raya, a course so popular that it is only able to offer us play during Ramadan – and even then only at a stiffish 800,000 roops including shared buggy, though that is a huge saving from their regular pricing for a magical course.

Tee off from 1 & 10 at 11am. Very well run course so that time is likely to be respected or even advanced a little if things are quiet as they often are during the fasting month.

Bogor Raya is of course the alternative to Jagorawi where the Interleague team will be looking to put the wheel back on the cart after a poor start to their title defence. Green fees there are the usual 1,050,00 roops including shared car and with a shotgun start at 9.30.

Registration for all will be to Bogor Raya this week, however, if you are available for selection for the Interleague match, or already know your services are required at Jagorawi then, please, indicate this in the comment box on the registration form.

Wherever you are playing with Tee Set next Sunday, play well and have fun! ….. Tee Set

RM03 Koreans

PS there was to be no resumption of the Korean War on the Sunday as the few playing preferred to wait and take a little picnic rather than push in … thank you to them all for their courtesy ..
