The Day

BogorRaya1It’s always a treat playing at Bogor Raya, rated by many Tee Setters as their favourite course. Until now, we have  struggled to find the right rate and starting time to suit us.  A great turnout of 43 enjoyed the  trip to and from Bogor with no delays. We have been offered another good rate and starting time for 6 November so will work on a return then.

VP Mel took the reins in the absence of all other Committee members and did a great job.  Mel handed over to Malty who led the toast to his good buddy Juergen Degert who sadly passed away after a long battle with illness.  Juergen was a great character, a friend to all and a fantastic supporter of DOGS and Tee Set over the years, most recently stepping in to help secure the arrangements for the Rancamaya weekend, for the second year in a row. Juergen’s wife May has asked if Tee Set and DOGS wanted to join in a wake for Juergen and we will advise of times and dates as soon as we can. We will also do a more fitting tribute to Juergen on this site when we announce the details for the wake. No doubt there are some interesting flights now forming on those golf courses beyond the pearly gates. RIP Juergen and best wishes to May, family and friends.27507929430_cc03d8e123_z

It was great to see Andy and Bruce back after absences of 211 and 156 weeks and to welcome newcomers Tom, Sepand, Robert, Brett and Aaron.  We hope you enjoyed your rounds and will return to play with us in the next few weeks.

Our Interleague Team was representing us at Jagorawi and we will update this edition with results as soon as they come in.

The Play

BogorRaya2

Some very strong rounds with a special mention to Carm Gleeson new to golf this year and shooting her first net under par round…keep at it Carm!

Craig Binks took out the Low Net A grade with a strong 69 net, Glen showed again his capacity to shoot low with the round of the day 63 to win Low Net B grade, although there were some good rounds in the 60s following behind him and Ricardo shot one of his best rounds to date with a net 68.  Sorry I had to use an old photo Ricardo as you must have disappeared before prizes – anyway it’s a great shot and it shows that it was clearly your time to get a return on your previous “investments”.  Joshua again showed his talent winning Low Gross with a 82 off the stick.

In other prizes, newcomer Robert won Low Putts, Kim then took Most Improved because Robert had won Low Putts, Susanty had First Sandy on the 2nd, Drew is not pictured here (perhaps banned after his Jags skirt shot) but no doubt let his playing partners know after having first par over 30 handicap on the 2nd hole and James again won back his rego fee with first birdie on the third, tying with newcomer Tom.

In the booby prizes, Koen won the honesty award with 13 strokes on one hole and Pekka became Monster Putter with 45 putts.

Almost forgot…skirts…plenty but only these brave cross dressers stuck around…scary.

Thanks again for Mel and Brenda for shouldering the load with us all away.

Next Up: Damai Indah BSD, 11.42am, 908 000Rp

While we work out the future of the Monthly Medal we have scheduled a “wedge” Monthly Medal this month at the excellent Damai Indah BSD course.  While stretching the normal budget, this presents extremely good value for money as it is an outstanding course offered to us at a significant discount and we are all assured of a delay free round and a quick trip home.  It will not be an eclectic round and the next cycle of the eclectic will start the following month and will continue for four weeks. Register for this Sunday here as usual.

Tee Set Shangri-La Classic Postponed

As mentioned last week, this event has been postponed until probably September…to be confirmed.  There’s so much going on and our other lives are getting in the way of our duty to Tee Set so something had to give.  Great reports so far from those who have used their Tee Set membership cards to get discounts at BATS and other Shangri-La venues, as well as the other partners supporting Tee Set here.
