The Day

Note – this is a repost, because the first one slipped out early, oops
Stuart’s display of flexibility had to be featured in today’s lead photos. Not sure what Roger is celebrating here but he looks triumphant with Tom A, and Siska and newcomer Cameron look like they are having a ball here, with Cameron ready to take the wheel. At nine years old, Cameron already plays a mean game but got a little lost on one of the holes with an 11….happens to us all.
Again the reporters from the field – in fact the Field of Chillies this week – Pondok Cabe – added some additional bite, ensuring plenty of heat in this veritable sambal of photos and numbers.
As for variety, among the 46 players we had representatives from Germany, Egypt, Philippines, the UK (we’ll keep you together for now), the Czech Republic, Austria, India, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Indonesia – I’m sure we have missed someone!. All shaping up well for the World Cup of Tee Set to be held at Riverside over two consecutive weekends 2nd and 9th October. Start getting your teams together (countries or regions allowed) – some preliminary details here.
Weather was kind with mostly overcast skies. Greens were slow compared to say Lotus Lakes but not bad for a suburban course. Having a choice to walk or ride a cart is nice to have.
Again the Singing Prez – likely to be out for the rest of the year with a bad knee – and the Web Guy – on his second tour of ‘Nam this year, had to rely on the trusty Immediate Past President of Almost Everything to be true to his name again, assisted by Lis and Beby standing in for Brenda.
Welcome to Tee Set to Cameron above, Karin (not captured yet) and Steven (who could do a decent Jason Statham impression with a headshave and a few more hours in the gym), Reports from the field just in claim Steven brings some real singing talent to Tee Set.
Welcome back to Patrick after 55 weeks, Robert after 44, Teddy 35, Siska 22 weeks and Efsi after 17 weeks. Last time we saw Efsi she enjoyed a puff between swings and the occasional bintang but this week she was very restrained. Better go back to old habits Efsi because its a well known Tee Set lesson that abstinence does not improve your game. All clearly lured back to the Field of Chillies, as were this motley crew below.

The Play

For a suburban course, not in the same league as many we have been playing, Pondok Cabe was a bit too hot for most of the Tee Setters – a healthy harvest of skirts and no blistering scores.
Stuart, Tom G and Chris – the Till not the Lever – won A, B and C Grades. Stuart also had the best gross of the day with 81. Mars and Axel also did well in A Grade but were OB by the time prizes were announced.

In the skills prizes, Gus led the tables on Most Improved and the coveted first par over 30 handicap, Daniel claimed first birdie, Mars had his eye in with only 25 putts and, in a rare event, no-one parred from the sand. Only Gus managed to be captured on the photo reel this week so here he is in all his glory. Well done Gus!
And now for those who found the Field of Chillies a bit too spicy….

James has clearly found a new look with that wig – similarly, Lis is becoming fairly attached to our mascot and for the second week in a row, winning Monster Putter. She stood in for the real winner Brett who took off early, good sport Lis.
Next Up: Cengkareng, 11th September 2016, 12 Noon
Yes, True Enjoyment indeed, especially for those who like to walk the course.
We are back at the very popular Cengkareng at 750,000Rp for green fees (walking) and the chance to Surf Cengkareng one of the new golf hoverboards available to the bravest and laziest for 250,000 Rp.
