Jagorawi New Course, Sunday 19th February 2017

The Day

Sunday saw the start of the Jakarta Inter-League season for 2017 and as is traditional, it also doubled up as Tee Set’s event for this week. 25 Tee Setters therefore arrived at Jagorawi in good time to enjoy the practice facilities and a nice breakfast given the morning start. Unfortunately they were also then greeted by a couple of heavy down-pours and a lightning storm which postponed the start of the round for 30 minutes.

With JIL being a team short, the current and former Tee Set Captains organized 2 teams of Tee Setters to send out as the rain was abating, followed by the remaining 9 Tee Setters. Having chosen to start in the rain there was a curious decision by powers yet unknown to abandon the JIL matches 2 holes into the round, which then caused further confusion among the teams as to whether continue playing or return to the club-house and take a rain-check refund. 15 Tee Setters chose to continue to play through to the end, keeping our record of not a missed weekend in 33+ years intact, and were treated to a Jagorawi New Course in great condition despite the rain as the greens drained quickly once the rain stopped.

We had 1 Newcomer: Adel Amar, to whom we wish a warm Tee Set welcome. With the small number of completed rounds and the fragmented finish, the final prizes giving was fairly sparsely attended. This coupled with the one prize rule resulted in only 5 prizes being awarded and no booby prizes this week. It also means the photo-taking was limited to a couple of shots, as all winners joined together to celebrate along with Aaron Sluczanowski who was celebrating being back playing with Tee Set after an absence of 34 weeks. Indogolf’s Dennis Kloeth was however the longest Welcome Back after a huge 211 weeks, but had departed just before the photo taking.
