One of the great pleasures of Rainbow Hills, sitting on the terrace watching the world go by…
Our trifecta of visits to the great courses of the Bogor area during Ramadan was completed with a first visit in more than 2 years to the splendid Rainbow Hills. The 31 players who joined were treated to a great day’s golf with the weather bright and sunny and the course, usual green maintenance at this time of year excepted, playing in good condition. We got to enjoy the 2 mature 9βs which made for a good challenge and a great setting for our internal Inter-League match, more of which you can read about below.
This week, we welcomed 4 Newcomers, Anders Eriksson, Ryan Shepherd, Tony Foglia and Robert Nicholls. Both Tony and Robert are Committee Members of the Par 5 Club in Bali, so it was nice to welcome them to a Tee Set week-end ahead of our August return match for the Battle Royale Cup.
We also were pleased to welcome back Johan Stenmark, Tomas Dudasko and Karel Horak after 37, 36 and 26 weeks, respectively. Where have you been, guys? π
A super day enjoyed by all and the Committee hope to be able to somehow find another quiet traffic week-end to be able to add Rainbow Hills into the schedule again. And soon.
The Play

Some very long carries from the Blue to the Red tees saw a healthy 7 skirts from the 28 male players, most of whom managed to squeeze into the picture.
Tomas Dudasko was financially saved by the 1 (booby) prize rule, only having to remain for his picture with the monkey for his 45 putts and our Monster Putter award.

A happy Dave Chew takes the reward for just 27 putts!
Peter Bush also benefited from the one prize rule to take home 1st Sandy prize for his effort on hole 15 while Dave Chew was awarded Low Putts for his equal best of the day 27 putts.
An absent-at-prize-giving Tom Grace, presumably jet lagged from his long haul return flight yesterday, managed to get into his round during the back 9 to shave an astonishing 17 strokes off his first 9 score to win Most Improved. Most likely helped by not repeating his 14 strokes on a hole during the front 9 which saw him awarded Most Strokes, albeit having already contributed to the skirts fund, he would not have had to contribute again.

Richard and Karan always delighted to win anything!!
The remaining skill prizes perhaps unsurprisingly featured heavily the players also participating in the Inter-League match. Team mates for Tee Set Too, Richard Mau and Karan Khetan were both awarded first birdie for their respective efforts on hole 2.
Lis Wymer was awarded First Par for Handicaps 30 and over for her par on hole 6, an effort which also was first sandy par but for the one prize rule.
Simon Reynolds was awarded Low Gross for his 82 strokes.
Roger (net 70), Wina (net 69) and Mick (net 69) were awarded Low A, B and C grades, respectively for their fine play on the day.
More detailed, player by player results are here while you will find lots more photos of a fine day on the Tee Set Gallery.
Tee Set versus Tee Set Too Inter-League
With the regular Inter-League week-end matches called off, we took advantage to catch-up on the Tee Set versus Tee Set Too match which had been held over from April. As would be expected, some close games resulted with 3 of them going to the final green. Tee Set came ahead in those close games 4-2 helping them to an overall 8-2 victory.
VP Roger Finnie paid particular thanks all those who stepped up to participate in the match-play due to the absence of several regular Inter-League squad members during the holiday season.
