The Day
With around 15 Tee Set regulars on Inter-league duties at Jagorawi on Sunday morning, a modest group of 22 Tee Setters turned out this week to take on the Shark’s challenging lay-out at Riverside.
Despite a morning competition going on and in a pleasant change from some of our experiences in recent weeks, Riverside’s starter was able to get us out off a full hour ahead of the original scheduled time of 12.30pm. This saw a few of the later arrivals scrambling to get out on the course behind the early starters and with the weather also being kind, we were round in a respectable 4 1/2 hours. This enabled everyone to enjoy a few beers before the presentations of the day which were a little delayed as we had given Brenda the day off thus leaving President Roger Finnie to manage all the results of the day after showering.
Only 1 new-comer to welcome this week, Lorenzo Margeno. Lorenzo had actually joined last week’s scramble as you will see from his picture here – he is on the left along with playing partners Colin Campbell, Andrew Waite and Jochen Sautter – but as we did not do a regular event presentation it was left to today to give him our usual warm Tee Set welcome.

A warm welcome back was also given to Patrick Wasler after 43 weeks and we hope to see you again soon Patrick.
To cap off a great day, we were also able to enjoy a smooth and relatively traffic free drive home.
The Play

Riverside’s challenging layout was reflected in only 4 players matching handicap or better on the day but interestingly no skirts. A reflection of the quality of the players or the hard and fast fairways is a matter of debate but a poor harvest of fines none the less.

Rather unusually, both Monster Putter and Most Strokes were shared by Gaurav Dass and Lorenzo Marengo with 43 putts and 11 strokes, respectively, and earning them only a single fine each under the 1 fine rule.
At the other end of the putting stats, Low Putts went unsurprisingly to regular winner Mark Johnson for his equal best of the day 28 shots with the flat stick. First Sandy was awarded to John Suermondt for his effort on hole number 6 whilst Stefan Thiele won Most Improved for knocking an impressive 15 strokes off his front 9 score over the back 9.
Juju Juhairiah was awarded first Par for Handicaps >=30 for her effort on number 15 whilst Lorenzo Marengo recovered his fine by winning First Birdie for his effort on hole 4.
Best Gross was awarded to Barbora Gaislerova for her 81 off the stick whilst President Roger Finnie (net 72), Dave Chew (net 69) and Michael Seabrook (net 68) took out Low A, B and C grades, respectively. An admin error on the day saw Dave classed in C grade and thus he missed out on the photo to Jaco Zaayman’s benefit but we will fix you up next week Dave. Brenda – you were missed!!

Overall a fun day and the detailed results of the day can be found here and the slightly limited photos of the day here.
Inter-League Result
As mentioned above, Sunday also saw Tee Set Too playing their Round 5 make-up game against Sandbaggers. A close match saw a couple of games settled on the last green with Sandbaggers managing to edge both games to win 6-4 overall. Thank you to all those who played and Inter-League will revert to its normal schedule in September.
Next Up
Next week-end sees the return match of the Battle Royale Cup where Tee Set will seek to win the trophy presented to Par 5 Club following their success at the inaugural event in Bali last year. President Roger Finnie will be leading the Tee Set team over 54 holes of match play at the ever popular Cengkareng Golf course. The match will be played on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th August followed by a trophy presentation BBQ on Sunday evening. Roger has reached out to several potential team members already and anyone interested to play please send an email to him via rogerfinnie@yahoo.com.
For those wanting a gentler week-end of golf enjoying Cengkareng’s pleasant walk or hover-board experience, great caddies and wonderful Margaritas, Tee Set will be holding this week’s event in parallel to the Sunday round of Battle Royale.
Spaces will be limited to 64 players and with Battle Royale taking up some of these spaces you are recommended to sign up early here. There will also be the aforementioned BBQ open to all at Rp150,000 per head so if you are interested to partake of it after the round please add a note in the comments section when you sign up to the effect of “BBQ = Yes”. If we exceed 64 sign ups we will run a waiting list so if you sign up but then cannot make it please let us know so we can accommodate additional players.
