The Day
A long holiday week-end saw 36 Tee Setters take the relatively short and traffic free trip to Senayan National. Bounded by apartments and shopping malls, the course is a green oasis in the center of the City providing a different test of golf to our usual courses; placing greater emphasis on players’ short games and putting on the excellent greens which play fast and true. Only 3 rounds of Par or better was a testament to the challenge Senayan provides but with a relatively short walk around the course, we were able to finish in good time and enjoy our Sunday evenings at home earlier than normal.
Two newcomers this week with a warm Tee Set welcome to Taylor Bowles and Alberto Giraudi, son of Paolo.
Another long welcome back this week with Peter Masters who joined us after a very impressive 183 weeks and Joe Alchi after a more modest 36 weeks.
The Play
Although relatively short there were a few longer carries to the red tees and this was enough to return a healthy 5 skirts with Chris Lever, Gaurav Dass, Matthew Cherrett, Mike Harling and Nick Thomas all fined as well as getting to enjoy the Tee Set dress up selection.
The tricky greens and fast surfaces saw the Monkey out of the bag this week with Jonathan Quek just pipping several others for Monster Putter with a high 46 strokes.
Gaurav Dass managed to avoid a second fine for his Most Strokes of 12 shots on a hole and to recover his investment with First Sandy for his efforts on hole 1. Debbie Minicola was the sole handicapper of 30 and above with a Par to take home that prize, celebrating here with Geoff and Kelly.
In the absence of Alberto Giraudi to share the lime-light, Taylor Bowles took home Most Improved. Neither First Birdie or Low Putts were awarded with the winners already receiving prizes as in addition to Gaurav’s prize above, Simon Reynolds took home Low Gross for his excellent effort of 75 shots.
Jonathan Quek showed that his Monster Putter prize did not distract from an otherwise excellent day’s golf by taking Low Net C grade with his Net 70 where he was joined by Glen Menyennett’s best of the day Net 67 in winning Low Net B grade and President Roger Finnie’s Low Net A grade of 68.
On the last day of the current round of the Match Play, Simon Reynolds with his strong round edged out Santi Miller 5 & 3 to move onto the bracket final.
As usual, photos of the day can be found here and more detailed player results here.
Next Up: Matoa 11.48AM
As our initial plan of BSD would have clashed with a large event, this week sees us return to the home of the Tee Set Championship and an opportunity for you to get in an early practice round at Matoa.
A pleasant walk for those who like to stretch their legs or enjoy a relaxing afternoon riding the rolling fairways in a cart all for a very reasonable Rp650,000.
If you wish to join us please sign up here.
