Sunday 31st December 2017: Riverside

Our last outing of 2017 was a short trip down the Jagorawi Toll to Riverside which turned out to be a smooth ride there and home with both little traffic on the Toll and a significant improvement in the local road between the toll booth and the course entrance gates after the recently finished repairs.

For Sunday’s round we invited our friends from DOGS to join us and in total we had 26 players turn out for some fun and a final game before welcoming in the new year. In order to maintain a relaxed holiday atmosphere for the day we held a 2 Ball Better Ball team event off individual handicaps with teams drawn blind, 1 each from a lower handicap and higher handicap pot of the players who arrived by 11.00am.

After the drawing there was a quick self decision-making on the flight groupings and a quick walk to the first tee for an early get away.

The course was in great condition despite the recent wet weather and played firm with the greens in their usual quick, excellent shape. We were also blessed with a fairly empty course and good weather bar a 2 hole rain-storm which thankfully was not enough to stop play. As a result we were round in just about 4 hours leaving plenty of time to complete the scoring and enjoy a few drinks together to wish each other Happy New Year before heading back to Jakarta well before 6pm.

All the players enjoyed the format of the day and most returned good team scores making it a successful variation to our usual games.

Clear winner on the day was the team Stuart Wigley and Rosie Tjaden who shot an incredible net 51 on the back of Rosie’s best ever round. Heading the best of the rest were the teams of Roger Finnie/Rudie Basson and Richard Mau/Juju Juhairiah with net 62 and 65, respectively. All 3 teams received the same prize of a couple of bottles of wine.

Thank you to John Brown for getting the word out amongst DOGS players as well as organizing the prizes and to Mark Johnson & Laurie O’Connor for assisting with all the arrangements of teams and registrations on the day.

Next Up: Pondok Cabe Sunday 7th January 2018

Our first game of 2018 is the relatively short drive to Pondok Cabe. The relatively straight-forward layout and relaxed atmosphere is perfect to ease everyone back into the New Year whether you stayed and partied hard or were away and are getting the sticks out after a couple of weeks off.

Tee time is 11.30am and the price is Rp525,000 walking or Rp637,500 with a shared cart.

Please sign up here if you are interested to join us.
