The Day
Sunday saw us return to Imperial Golf Klub for the first time since December 2016, a long gap despite it being a layout many in Tee Set enjoy. We were well welcomed and the starter ensured we were able to get off just ahead of our scheduled tee time split across both 9’s.
The course was in good condition despite all the recent rain which meant we adopted lift clean and place on the fairways for the day. A good stiff breeze was present all day to make the round very interesting but this mostly kept the rain away so, apart from 1 hole, we played in dry conditions despite the heavy cloud around the course.
All of this ensured we had a smooth round and were all finished by around 4.30pm, leaving plenty of time for a few refreshments whilst sharing our stories of the day.
We had 3 newcomers on the day and a warm Tee Set welcome was given to Randy Hilmen, Chad Hinzman and Audie Kaunang. Also a warm welcome back to Dirk Kruip after 25 weeks and Jeff Durham after 16 weeks (Ronald having played in December was not so long between games). We hope to see you all out again shortly.
A thank you to Beby for managing the administration on the day and for VP Ric Wymer who did the prize giving with the President departing early to the airport.
The Play
Another fine round from Jeff Landau, continuing his recent great form, saw him take home Low Gross again this week with his 76 off the stick. Low Net A was won by Ronald Lim with a net 71; Low Net B with the best net of the day 67 was won by James Ross and Low Net C by Jeff Durham with his 69 showing he has been active during his recent Tee Set absence.
With James already a winner, Low Putts went to Karen Khetan and Matthew Powell for their 29 putt efforts on what were tricky greens, but not tricky enough for any one to win Monster Putter this week. A double header for Dirk Kruip with First Par for Handicaps >= 30 and Most Improved with 9, but only 1 photo and prize under the 1 prize rule. First Sandy was won by Laurie O’Connor for his effort on Hole 14.
First Birdie was jointly won by David Baglivo and Roger Finnie but both were absent at the prize giving which meant David also avoided the Monkey for Most Strokes of 12 on a hole. With some long carries to the red tees there was a healthy 11 skirts today, all listed above and many captured below in the photos.
As usual, photos of the day are here and detailed player results here.
