Sunday 15th April 2018 Jagorawi G&CC

The Day

Sunday saw Tee Set head down the Jagorawi Toll to JGCC. With Round 2 of the JIL taking place, we could take advantage of the attractive new rates being offered this year as well as enjoy what is an excellent course. A strong turnout of 41 players for JGCC showed the attraction of the course with numbers boosted by another healthy group of 5 newcomers and several welcome backs.

A warm Tee Set welcome to Christine Lie, Arnold Castillon, Donald Blake, Ryan McPhee and Zachary Hosler. We also welcomed back Tetty Artatie after 96 weeks, Owen Evans after 38 weeks, Albert Arcenas and Neil Mullins  after 20 weeks and Rusty Witwer after 17 weeks.  We look forward to seeing everyone back soon.

The course was in good shape, playing firm but not as fast on the greens as it can be which helped everyone return reasonable putting stats even if we did not count putting scores for the Monster Putter or Low Putts due to some Tee Setters participating in the JIL Match Play games.

The weather was excellent for this time of year with only a light breeze and full sunshine so we could enjoy our round uninterrupted by rain. However, it also seemed that some groups were either enjoying the weather a little too much or ran into some playing difficulties as a backlog occurred quite early in the round for the Tee Set groups and this rather took away from what was otherwise a good day. Apologies to those who got caught and we will look at arrangements for next month to ensure things go more smoothly next time.

With totally 71 players there for Tee Set and JIL combined, VP Ric Wymer was kept busy organizing all the groups and conducting the announcements and presentations afterwards. A big thank you to Ric and to our Secretary, Brenda Mayland, who handled all the registrations and scoring on the day smoothly as always.

The Play

Neil Mullins on a return visit from Australia showed some rustiness off the tee to join fellow returnee Rusty Witwer and Ian Butcher in the Skirt photo. Jagorawi is a tricky challenge and we had a 6 way tie for Most Strokes between Albert Arcenas, Arthur Mallari, Bill Lloyd, Jens Roestel, Rosie Putri and newcomer Zachary Hosler who all had 10 strokes on a hole.

Both Neil and Zachary were able to recover their fine through the skill prizes by sharing First Birdie on hole 2 whilst First Sandy was also shared by Lim Jongwha and the Singing President Craig Ewers for their efforts on the first hole. Most Improved was Jeff Durham with a 7 stroke improvement over his two 9’s whilst Low Gross went to Arne Tjaden for his 85 off the stick.

Low Net honours for the day were shared by Richie Tiblani in A Grade for his net 72, Tony  Howarth with the best net of the day 69 to take B Grade and Rusty Witwer in C Grade for his net 79.

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to everyone who came out on Sunday where despite the support, the JIL slumped to another 10 – 0 loss, this week to Pocksia, so its back to the drawing board for Captain Roger Finnie to think about the next round in May.

Next Up: Pangkalan Jati 12pm Sunday 22nd April 2018

Next Sunday sees us with a split event week-end as 17 Tee Setters and families head to Bali to represent Tee Set in Battle Royale III as we seek to retain the cup won last year whilst for those not travelling and looking for the regular Tee Set outing, we head to our former home course, Pangkalan Jati.

We are not aware the course has upgraded the booking system so there will always be the last minute registration before play to secure the Sunday PM price from 12pm but in the absence of the President and VP’s off in Bali, the Web Guy Keith Miller will be there early to welcome you and manage the day’s proceedings.

Price is Rp660,000 walking and a shared cart is Rp230,00 per cart. Please join us at PJ by signing up here.
