The Day
The last Sunday before the fasting period saw us have a later start than normal as the JIL tee time at Jagorawi was moved back to 12.30pm due to a morning competition. This gave some, albeit not all, those attending the BWA Ball on the Saturday night time to get over their excesses and still make the first tee. A shot-gun start made sure we all got off in good time to finish the round and once the mid-day sun started to fade, we enjoyed a pleasant round in the cooler part of the day.
In total, 32 Tee Setters were able to make the day, another healthy turn-out for one of the more challenging courses we play, and we had 5 newcomers on the day continuing our good trend of new members. A warm Tee Set welcome to Simon Oxley, Kalle-Erikki Penttila, Juha Christensen, Aditya Lasmana and Aaron Davis. Our welcome backs were headed by Keith Gorman after 33 weeks and Jari Rahtu after 21 weeks. We look forward to welcoming you all back soon.
We missed some photos this week of our new members with only Simon getting his mug shot recorded and Juha getting caught with the fine photo below.
The continued good weather after the rainy season meant we were able to enjoy the course in its almost full glory with the fairways running hard and the greens back to their speedy best. The only downside being the continued maintenance of the bunkers where the sand conditions were very contrasted depending if you were in one which had already been re-sanded. Whilst only 2 players broke their handicaps on the day, the overall scores and putting stats showed most of us adapted well to the conditions.
A big thank you to VP Ric Wymer who managed all the duties for both Inter-league and Tee Set in the absence of the other committee members following the aforementioned Ball, to Secretary on the day Beby who handled all the registrations and scoring and to Lis who made sure they were both there in good time!.
Photos of the day can be found here.
The Play
With no putting fines and prizes due to the Inter-league matches and a few people heading off early to try and beat the worst of the traffic, the prize giving was a little spartan. As last week, we had a single skirt winner with newcomer Juha Christensen able to discover the options of the Tee Set dress up bag. Last week’s Low B winner, Amol Singhal, took our most frequent double-header in getting fined for his Most Strokes of 10 on a hole and then coming home 13 shots better for Most Improved to get back his fine.
First Sandy was won by Jens Roestel for his effort on the first hole whilst equal low putter on the day, Fernando Gaggino was also our Low Gross on the day for his excellent 85 off the stick.
Low Net A was awarded to Daniel Brown who also took home NTP on hole 11 in whilst Low Net B went to Dan Javier for his net 71.
With Captain Roger Finnie MIA on the day, long-time Captain and JIL President Ric Wymer took over the reins to see if the fortunes of the team could be turned around after 2 wipe-outs. An improved performance saw our Inter-League team finally get on the board this season winning a couple of games against 2017 Champions Sentual Swingers who won the match overall 6-4. With the other matches being close, this leaves Tee Set in prime position to take home the wooden spoon unless we can turn the results around when JIL resumes after the summer break.
Congratulations to all our winners and detailed results of the day can be found here.
Next Up: Bogor Raya Sunday 20th May 2018 @ 11.00AM
This week we start the special time of the year where the mix of Ramadan and what should be the dry season enables us to schedule most of the Sundays down the Jagorawi Toll, as we get better rates than normal, usually have less busy courses and less traffic & rain to slow us on the return trip.
We start this Sunday with our only visit of the year to one of the top courses in the area, Bogor Raya. Designed by internationally renowned Australian architect Graham V. Marsh on 72 hectares in a stunning natural setting, Bogor Raya is a real treat to play and visually one of the best courses we play on all year.
We have secured a very reasonable price of Rp800,000 with carts and a great tee time of 11.00am so there is plenty of time afterwards to enjoy a relaxing time in the clubhouse or to head back early. If you wish to join us please register here.

New Event: Finna Challenge Cup 20th-22nd July 2018
