The Day
The opportunity to enjoy a pleasant trip both ways on the Jagorawi Toll to access the great courses around the Bogor area with relatively little traffic delay is always a popular time of year for Tee Setters. Added to the attractions of a scenic layout, great caddies and good service in the club house, it is always a pleasure to be able to visit Bogor Raya.
No surprises therefore that a very impressive turnout of 52 players came on Sunday to play, representing our best turnout of the year so far. This kept our Secretary Beby and VP Ric Wymer extremely busy beforehand as many of the players arrived close to tee off time and then there needed to be some rearrangements on hole allocations as we ended up with a mini-shot gun rather than the expected 2 tee start. Nevertheless, in true Tee Set fashion, all was resolved with minimum fuss and we got everyone out largely as requested.
In addition to being the last game for Neil Mullins before his return to Australia after a few weeks around Asia, we welcomed 6 new Tee Setters and 5 notable welcome backs. A warm Tee Set welcome was given to Scherzo Wahid Naiborh, Ronny Titheruw, Francois Panchaud, Muhammad Farooq, David Wong and Alexander Watt: most of whom we captured in the photos below. Heading the welcome backs was Robert Humberson after 84 weeks and father & daughter Scotty and Kayla Graham after 38 and 36 weeks, respectively.
With the journey time being under an hour for most Tee Setters both ways, bright sunshine and a course in good condition, the day was made for us to enjoy a great round. So it was to prove with play being smooth and relatively quick and some excellent results turned in for both gross and net scores.
A big thank you to VP Ric Wymer and our Secretary Beby for handling all the registrations, scoring and announcements on the day. Detailed pictures are here for you to enjoy.
The Play
Some excellent results recorded by many players but with several winners choosing to head out early, the prize awardees were not always the initial winners as you will note below. Less confusing were the fines which included new comer Scherzo Whaid Naiborh getting caught with the Monkey for Monster Putter (42 putts) and Ivan Byriel and Matthew Allan sharing Most Strokes of 10 on a hole. Always popular is the skirt photo with David O’Shea, Dirk Kruip, Ivan Byriel, John Suermondt and Francois Panchaud all failing to pass the red tees during the round.
Ivan recovered his fine by taking first Par for Handicaps =>30 for his effort on hole 11 whilst Most Improved went to a happy Paul Daud who recovered 9 strokes on the back nine from his front nine effort. Mark Fiorello continued his fine form and won 1st Sandy this week for his effort on hole 8.
David Wong took home 1st Birdie with a fine effort on the first hole whilst Low Gross went again to Gary Hing for excellent 75 off the stick. Honours in the Low Net category went to Richard Mau in A Grade (70), serial winner the last few weeks Amol Singhal in B Grade (66) and Dirk Kruip in C Grade (78).
Thank you to all those who came and joined us, congratulations to all the winners and detailed results of the day can be found here.
Next UP: Cengkareng Monthly Medal & Eclectic Round 2 Sunday 27th May 2018 12.00pm
Being the last week-end of the month, this Sunday we head back to one of Jakarta’s finest courses and one of Tee Set’s most popular venues, Cengkareng, home for Tee Set’s 2018’s Monthly Medal.
Thanks to the generous support of Ken Runyon and his teams at Accel Golf and Golf & Special Events Management we will recognizing the Low Gross and Low A, B & C winners with a trophy in addition to presentation of the Monthly Medal to the overall winner.

This week will also be the 2nd round of Cycle VIII of the Tee Set Eclectic and an opportunity for you to improve last months score or put your marker down to wrestle the Eclectic Trophy off Cycle VII winner, Mr James Ross.
Whilst there is a lot to attract players for this week, we also welcome those who just wish to enjoy a pleasant trip across the rolling fairways, guided round by Cengkareng’s well trained caddies and then to sit and enjoy one of its famous Margaritas to cool you down afterwards.
If you are able to join us for a very reasonable Rp800,000 walking please sign up here. Tee time is 12pm as usual.
News Flash: For those who would prefer not to walk, in addition to the hover boards to glide across the rolling fairways, Cengkareng management have recently purchased 8 golf carts. These are priced at Rp55ok a cart so if you wish to reserve one please contact the Golf reservations staff at Cengakreng directly. As the carts are limited in number and we do not have visibility to those already booked on the day, your Tee Set Committee is not involved to the reservation of the carts.
