Sunday 22nd July 2018: Pangkalan Jati

The Day

This week saw us return from the western reaches of Tee Set golf to our original home of Pangkalan Jati. With 20 plus Tee Setters and their partners away in Surabaya for the Finna Challenge event under the leadership of the Singing President Craig Ewers, report to follow,  President Roger Finnie and VP Ric Wymer led a merry band of 15 Tee Setters at PJ.

Unlike the last visit which was washed out, we had an enjoyable day under sunny skies and a quick round with the course playing well and no hold-ups as we played. No newcomers but a welcome back after 42 weeks to Tony Franco. A thank you to Ric for all his assistance with the admin on the day as we gave our secretary a day off.

Being all done and dusted by 5pm also allowed us to get back in time to catch the last round of the British Open. Photos of the day are here.

The Play

With a small group there was an opportunity for most get amongst the prize giving and so it proved. A modest harvest of 3 skirts saw Eric Mary, Tan Chee Hua and John Suermondt up for the traditional photo whilst Andy Vincent got a photo with the Monkey for his 9 on a hole. Eric Mary was at least able to recover his fine with First Birdie on hole 3.

Most Improved was awarded to Geoff Thwaites who kindly kept the Tee Set coffers oiled by donating back his prize whilst First Birdie went Nick Gleeson for his birdie on the 2nd hole. Low Putts went to Arthur Mallari for his good putting return of 27 strokes with the flatstick.

Low Gross was awarded to President Roger Finnie for his steady round of 81. With a fantastic effort of 1 under par over his last 10 holes, Jung Chun Kim took home Low Net A for his net 72 where he was joined by Dan Javier who took Low Net B for his net 74.

Congratulations to all the winners and results of the day are here.

Next Up: Cengkareng 12pm Sunday 29th July 2018

Monthly Medal & Final Round of Eclectic.

Being the last week-end of the month, this Sunday we head back to one of Jakarta’s finest courses and one of Tee Set’s most popular venues, Cengkareng, home for Tee Set’s 2018’s Monthly Medal.

Thanks to the sponsorship of Ken Runyon and his teams at Accel Golf and Golf & Special Events Management we will recognizing the Low Gross and Low A, B & C winners with a trophy in addition to presentation of the Monthly Medal to the overall winner.

This week will also be the Final  round of Cycle VIII of the Tee Set Eclectic and an opportunity for you to improve last months net score or put your marker down to wrestle the Eclectic Trophy off Cycle VII winner, Mr James Ross. For those wishing to check the status of the current Eclectic and their own scores, the updated results will be posted on Thursday.

Whilst there is a lot to attract players for this week, we also welcome those who just wish to enjoy a pleasant trip across the rolling fairways, guided round by Cengkareng’s well trained caddies and then to sit and enjoy one of its famous Margaritas to cool you down afterwards.

If you are able to join us for a very reasonable Rp800,000 walking please sign up here. Tee time is 12pm as usual.

News Flash: For those who would prefer not to walk, in addition to the hover boards to glide across the rolling fairways, Cengkareng management have recently purchased 8 golf carts. These are priced at Rp55ok a cart so if you wish to reserve one please contact the Golf reservations staff at Cengakreng directly. As the carts are limited in number and we do not have visibility to those already booked on the day, your Tee Set Committee is not involved to the reservation of the carts.

Tee Set Match-Play

This is the last week of the current match-play round so please can the remaining 8 players who have yet to complete their matches organize them. If not, we will adjudicate a winner based on the rules so that the next round can commence in good time.
