The Rain and rain and rain and…
With Sunday also marking the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice ending WWI and Remembrance Sunday, Tee Set was supporting 2 events on the day which collectively attracted 90 golfers.
At Rainbow Hills there was the now annual gathering led by former President Geoff Thwaites with a remembrance service followed by lunch and a round of golf whilst at Matoa we were holding our regular weekly event as a practice round ahead of the Championships. Both games were unfortunately, drastically effected by the weather as is always the risk at this time of year.
Rainbow Hills was a wash out after just 1 hole so everyone retired to the event area where a few refreshments were enjoyed and a charity raffle held to raise money for the Sulawesi earthquake and tsunami relief efforts. With 60 players there, it was a boisterous afternoon.
At Matoa, 30 players signed up for the practice round and whilst we got off in good time, the round was to be affected by the weather mid-way through with the siren halting play for around 45 minutes. Some hardy souls decided to tough it out despite the continuing rain and enjoyed their last few holes in the relative dry after the rain stopped. However, most players recognized that discretion was the better part of valour and took an early shower.
With only 10 cards submitted, the President decided anyone who finished was a winner and used the prize money to fund some refreshments for those remaining at the end. All submitted cards will be recorded for the day as will the attendance of those who started but could not finish…
No photos on the day but a warm Tee Set welcome to 2 newcomers in the morning as Leon Bivolaru and Bonardo Sinaga joined us for the first time. We hope to see you both out again soon.
Next Up; Jagorawi Country Club 9.30am Sunday 18th November followed by BBQ and JIL Award Party
With the JIL round robin having been completed last month, Sunday marks the end of the JIL season when we hold the now traditional modified team scramble event. The round is followed by a fun BBQ and the award presentations for the good and not so good play during the JIL year.
The scramble format is teams of 4, everyone drives from the tee and from the location of the selected drive, each player plays her/his own ball into the hole for an individual score. On each hole, the best 2 (par 4’s and 5’s) or all 4 (Par 3’s) of the individual stableford scores count for the team score. For those wishing to study the scoring beforehand please see the attached score card for the details.
Sunday’s event is open to all Tee Set players and we will make up scramble teams on the day unless you indicate a preference for certain playing partners beforehand when signing up. Please everyone bring along their green shirts if you can.
Start time is 9.30am as usual for the Interleague week-end and we will have a shot-gun start so please be at the course and registered for around 8.30am so we can form groups and allocate holes in time to get out at 9.15am for the start.
