The Day
The beginning of our May 2019 Jagorawi Toll swing saw 34 Tee Setters head south for our first foray of the year into the Bogor area. The picturesque and well laid out Bogor Raya course is always a treat to play and the caddies and staff look after us to ensure we have a memorable day.
The speed of play was impacted by which tee was allocated as the starting hole with the front 9 starters getting round in just under 4 hours and missing the afternoon storms despite some early heavenly grumbles mid-way through their back 9. Unfortunately whilst most managed to finish up, those starting on hole 10 got held up by some other groups and so caught the storm as it broke whilst still on their final couple of holes.
One newcomer on the day and a warm Tee Set welcome was given to Adam Leigh-Smith.
Lots of welcome backs this week with our list headed by Nicki Stuart after 1 year, closely followed by Christine Lie after 50 weeks. Honorable mentions to Stefan Skibinski, Bill Bigelow and Sean Hill.
Photos of the day are here.
The Play
Our fines came in groups of 3 this week with Indah Dhaliwal being joined by Andrew Shaw and Harry Lopez for their Most Strokes of 10 on a hole and by Rudie Basson and Sean Hill for the Skirt photo. Indah was however saved from the trifecta by Matthias Coessens who had Monster Putter after 43 strokes on the greens. It got better for Indah as he was back up to claim First Par for Handicaps >=30 and recover his fine.
Also recovering his fine was Rudie Basson who had First Sandy whilst First Birdie went to Samret Raungrit. Completing the skills awards was Low Putter, President Roger Finnie.
Most Improved was Joe Callahan whilst our Low Gross on the day went to Tim Knight. Completing the list of winners were our Low Net awardees of Simon Oxley, Craig Edwards and our best net on the day, Mike Webb.
Thank you to VP Ric Wymer and Secretary Beby for managing all the arrangements for the day. Congratulations to all the winners and the detailed scoring is here Bogor Raya Master 050519
Match Play
A quick reminder that if both players are present on any particular week, the Match Play rules do require that the match be played unless the Match Play convener has been informed and agrees to a postponement. Whilst our Secretary and Committee endeavor to pair you up, it is the players responsibility to arrange the match and inform the person doing the registrations if it has been missed. The rule is there to encourage timely completion of each round so please help us if you spot we have missed a match-up.
Next up: Permata Sentul, Sunday 12th May 2019
Continuing the Jagorawi Toll theme to Tee Set golf this month, Sunday sees us visit Permata Sentul Golf Club. This is another one of those courses which we visit infrequently but which is always an interesting golfing challenge with its rolling topography and 3 Par 3s in 4 holes to finish the front 9. We are pleased to have it back on the schedule for the first time in 24 months as several members have been asking to include it again.
If you want to join us for a mere 750,000 Rp including cart and a tee off time of 12:00pm, please register here.
Up coming events….
(1) A reminder for those wanting to join all the fun of the BWA Pink Golf Day in support of Breast Cancer awareness that the early bird registrations will open shortly.
(2) Before that, there is a Legends Golf event where you can get to play and mingle with some of cricket’s former stars on the golf course. The event will be held next month, 14th June, and is looking for both players and sponsors as the organizers look to raise funds for an international standard pitch to be built in Indonesia.
Both are on our Classified page.
