Sunday 19th May 2019 Cengkareng Monthly Medal

The Day

A healthy turnout of 40 Tee Setters for our monthly medal last Sunday which was being held 1 week early to avoid the heavy maintenance which occurs at this time of year on the greens. As usual, we were well looked after at Cengkareng and after teeing off as scheduled, we were to enjoy a clear round and good weather on the course. Play as a result went smoothly and most players were finished faster than normal such that we were all completed by just after 6pm; leaving plenty of time for several to relax and enjoy some refreshments in the club house after the prize giving.

4 newcomers this week and we gave a warm Tee Set welcome to Andrew Clydesdale, Gimmy Panata, Keith Erickson and Tae-Young Kim. Notable welcome backs to Gordon Anderson after 137 weeks, Banphot Wongvisavakorn (46 weeks) and Jaturaporn Pibankul (28 weeks). We look forward to welcoming you all again soon.

Thank you to Lis for helping to take some photos on the day and to Beby for managing all the scoring and results. Pictures of the day can be found here.

The Play

Some stellar play on the day but as usual we started our prize giving by topping up the Treasurer’s coffers. A slightly light return of 5 skirts awarded to Banphot Wongvisavakorn, Divya Prakash Ahuja, Jaturaporn Pibankul, Keith Erickson and Matt Otto was balanced by a 5-way tie for Most Strokes with Andrew Shaw, Gordon Anderson, Indar Dhaliwal and James Ross joining Banphot for the photo. Not complete, Banphot completed the trifecta of booby prizes after being tied with Dave Prosser for Monster Putter.

Both Gordon Anderson for Most Improved and Indar Dhaliwal for 1st par Handicaps >=30 were able to recover their fines. First Sandy went to Fernando Gaggino.

Newcomer Gimmy Panata led the way on the greens to win Low Putts whilst Tim Knight was Low Gross on the day. 1st Birdie went to Shawn Berg who also took Long Drive and so was joined by our Nearest the Pin Winner, Andy Vincent, for the photo.

Just pipped for the Monthly Medal despite an excellent 64 was Andrew Shaw who had to be content with Low Net C Grade where he was joined by Albert Arcenas and Amol Singhal (on count-back from Marcelo de Jesus) for the Low Net awards.

Our Monthly Medalist for June was Matthew Powell who shot an incredible 74 gross to record 47 points on the day; a record equaling return for the Monthly Medal!

Congratulations to all our winners and the detailed results are here: Form_ Current Results 190519

Tee Set Match Play

In the last quarter-final game in the Kunning Bracket, after a great match Keith Gorman edged Matthias Coessens 1up on the 19th hole to complete the semi-final line up. None of the current round of Emas bracket matches have been played so please arrange these matches as soon as possible so they are completed with the deadline of 30th June.

Next Up: Rancamaya Sunday 25th- 26th May 2019

This ever popular event is now here!  With a social day on Saturday, a Tee Set sponsored BBQ in the evening followed by our regular Sunday event and the Tee Set versus D.O.G.S. match, there is a lot to look forward to at the week-end.

A big thank you to Mark Johnson for taking the lead in coordinating the arrangements for both D.O.G.S. and Tee Set again. The full details are on the web-site menu page so please check it out here and if you are a last minute sign up for Saturday night please contact Mark who will try and help you make a reservation should rooms still be available.

Please see the attached list of who Mark has registered as signed up so far. For those signed up for Saturday night, please note you should bring your favourite refreshments to while away the evening – we are sponsoring the food only!

For those who just want to come down on Sunday and play you are most welcome too and please sign up as usual here. Those registered for Saturday night do not need to sign up again as we will take your name from the list above. Captain Ric Wymer will be looking for players wanting to help defend the trophy won by Tee Set for the first time last year. As a reminder, the trophy is named in honour of long-time member of both societies and the inspiration behind the week-end, Juergen Degert, who sadly passed away not long after the inaugural event.
