Sunday 7th July 2019 BSD

The Day

A smaller than usual turnout this week at BSD possibly influenced by summer trips, competing society events or just a quiet post 4th July week-end for our US members but the 24 Tee Setters who came were treated to a smooth and enjoyable day.

A morning competition had pushed our start time back a little but the starter arranged a 6 hole shot-gun for us meaning we were all off at the same time and enjoyed a smooth round to finish well before dusk. The weather was hazy and despite a few threatening clouds late into the round, we only experienced a few rain drops which did not detract from an otherwise dry and smooth running course.

No newcomers this week but an impressive welcome back to Peter Riddell Carre after 275 weeks which paled the more modest returns of Neil Mullins (59 weeks) and Erik Milfors (44 weeks) but who were equally feted during the presentations.

Many thanks to Beby for managing the registrations and scoring and to VP Ric Wymer for taking care of the prize-giving. Photos of the day are here.

The Play

No skirts this week but the Treasurer was pleased to note a 3-way tie for Most Strokes with our welcome backs, Peter Riddell Carre and Erik Milfors being joined by Supachai Suesomboon who however won his fine back with Low Putts. Monster Putter was Harry Lopez . Most Improved went to Samret Raungrit.

Our other welcome back, Neil Mullins, took home 1st Sandy whilst 1st Birdie went to Chuck Jeffrey for the first of his 4 birdies on the day. Low Gross went to Simon Reynolds after an excellent 77 off the stick.

On a day of good scoring, our leaders in the Low Net category were Graham Parsonage, Paul Daud and Dirk Kruip.

Congratulations to all our winners and detailed scoring is here: Form_ Current Results BSD 070719

Tee Set Match Play

One match completed at BSD with Roger Finnie squeezing past 2018 Match Play Champion, Jens Roestel in a closely fought game, 3&2. Roger enters the Emas Bracket final and along with Simon Oxley in the Kunning Bracket, awaits the out-come of the other semi-final matches in their respective brackets.

Forthcoming Tee Set events…..

A busy time for the schedule with a few special events coming up over the coming weeks which we feel you may be interested in. In order of scheduling:

(1) Gunung Geulis Sunday 21st July 2019:

Bogor - Gunung Geulis West 3

A rare Tee Set visit to this excellent 36 hole golf venue, our last visit was in 2015!, and so we have set up some options so as to take full advantage of 2 interesting layouts and the accommodation options of both the wonderful Royal Tulip Hotel and the more down to earth Cottages.

For those wishing to play both layouts we have negotiated a good price for Saturday and we have a package for those wanting to come down and enjoy a pleasant evening before playing Sunday and/or who may be playing Rainbow Hills Saturday with our friends at D.O.G.S. and wish to stay overnight before joining Tee Set on Sunday. Of course, those wishing to play Sunday only have this option also so we hope there will be a great turnout over the week-end.

Pricing is Rp2,465,000 B&B for 2 persons at the Royal Tulip in a deluxe room with 1 golf round and Rp1,800,000 for the same package staying in the cottages. Saturday golf and/or extra player in the room is priced at Rp950,000. If you are interested in booking either the hotel or cottages and/or joining Saturday for golf, please contact VP Bill Lloyd at bill.lloyd@asiantigers-indonesia.com to reserve your place. Please note we need to confirm room requirements to the hotel by the end of next week so please reply asap. For those joining Sunday only we will have our usual sign up process.

(2) 36th Birthday Tee Set Scramble Sunday 4th August 2019 Matoa Nasional:

We will return to Matoa for our annual scramble event to celebrate Tee Set’s 36th year. Always a fun day supported by our sponsors so please start to think about your teams of 4 players to compete for the glory of winning this event. Registrations will open soon on the website.

(3) Tee Set World Cup of Golf  Sunday 18th August 2019 Riverside:

Can anyone wrestle the trophy off Srikandi??? Following the good feedback from last year’s format, our 4th holding of the Tee Set World Cup will be held as a 1 day event again but returning to its inaugural venue, Riverside. Format will remain unchanged from 2018 with Teams of 4 competing for Best Net and Best Gross prizes and of course, the Tee Set World Cup Trophy.

The Event Supremo, Craig Edwards will be looking to confirm Captains for teams soon so we can organize sign-ups for event. Remember teams are by nationality/logical geographical regions so national bragging rights are on the line. Start forming your teams and again sign-ups will be posted on the web-site shortly.

Other Forth-coming Golf Events….

Please check out our Classified Page for forthcoming events including the ever popular 45 Hole Asian Tigers Golf challenge being hosted by VP Bill Lloyd, the Geologi Trisakti Golf Event and the BWA Pink Golf Day.

Next up: Imperial Golf Klub Sunday 14th July 2019

Sunday sees us return to our local “K”  klub, Imperial. Imperial’s layout is always a strong golfing challenge and the Club House offers excellent views over the course to enjoy along with the good service and your chosen refreshment.

Tee time is 11.55 a.m. and the price Rp950,000 with carts. We will need to provide names to the course on Saturday morning latest so please sign up as soon as you can to help us with the administration with Imperial. Those that can join us please sign up here.
