Sunday 4th August 2019 Tee Set 36th Anniversary Scramble Matoa Nasional

With Jakarta undergoing a power blackout on Sunday, the 91 players and many event supporters experienced few interruptions from the outside world as we enjoyed a very successful celebration of Tee Set’s 36th Anniversary. However, it has also meant that collating all the photos and reports on the day are a little delayed and so the write up will follow a little later in the week.

In the interim, a huge thank you to everyone who turned up on the day, our sponsors, our helpers and all the Matoa staff who collectively ensured the day went off smoothly.

Next Up: Pondok Cabe Sunday 11th August 2019

Sandwiched between the 36th Anniversary scramble and the Tee Set World Cup events, this week we take the relatively short drive south to Pondok Cabe for a regular Sunday event.

The straight-forward layout and relaxed atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing stroll around the fairways and the usually quick round should see everyone free to enjoy some refreshments after the round and still not be too late returning home.

Tee time is 11.30am and the price is Rp600,000 walking or Rp712,500 with a shared cart. Please sign up here if you are interested to join us.

Note: for the keen watchers of the schedule we had planned a BBQ afterwards but due to competing requirements on Sunday, we will need to reschedule this social event to another week-end.

Tee Set Match Play Final

The final of the Emas Bracket was played during the week with Roger Finnie edging past Divya Ahuja 2 &1 in an enjoyable and close match.

President Roger Finnie joins Tee Set Inter-league Captain Simon Oxley in the final where they will play for the Ric Wymer Trophy and to succeed Jens Roestel as the Tee Set Match-Play Champion.

Forthcoming Tee Set events….

We have opened registrations for these upcoming events….

(1) Tee Set World Cup of Golf  Sunday 18th August 2019 Riverside:

Can anyone wrestle the trophy off Srikandi??? Following the good feedback from last year’s format, our 4th holding of the Tee Set World Cup will be held as a 1 day event again but returning to its inaugural venue, Riverside. The format will remain unchanged from 2018 with Teams of 4 competing for Best Net and Best Gross prizes and of course, the Tee Set World Cup Trophy – best 3 of 4 scores counting per hole for the team score.

The Event Supremo, Craig Edwards has already got 12 teams registered (see here to check out teams already registered)  for the competition but we still have room for a few more…. including perhaps our defending champions!  Remember teams are by nationality/logical geographical regions with national bragging rights on the line, so please sign up here when you are ready with your team.

For those not yet in a team or just wanting to come along and join the day, we will open up registrations for single players next Monday as all are welcome as usual for Tee Set events.

For any teams looking for a new team shirt, Sumo Caddy have made an offer to Tee Set members as attached here. Anybody interested should call/WhatsApp Richard Bittner on +6281229009999

If you are not joining Tee Set today and fancy a relaxed run refreshed by some beers, EP are arranging a hash event on the same day. Details are on our Classified Page on how to sign up and register.

(2) 2nd Annual East Java Challenge

Under the leadership of former President Craig Ewers and Mark Fiorello, we have arranged the 2nd East Java Challenge which this year will be based at the picturesque Taman Dayu course, just outside Surabaya.

As last year, it will be a 2-day Eclectic Tournament with the option of some social golf on Friday. The date is set for 21-22 September 2019 and with current trophy holder Fernando “El Guapo” Gaggino unable to defend his crown, we are sure to have a new champion this year. Details of the event are here: Second Annual Tee Set East Java Challenge MF and please contact directly to Craig Ewers at  Craig.Ewers@aipj.or.id if you are interested to attend

Asian Tigers 45 hole challenge….

Please check out our Classified Page for forthcoming events including the ever popular 45 Hole Asian Tigers Golf challenge being hosted by Tee Set VP Bill Lloyd. Certainly the most unique golf event, a lot of fun and one not to miss if you relish a challenge. Places are filling up so please be quick to secure your slot in this enjoyable day out.
