Sunday 11th August 2019 Pondok Cabe

The Day

After the semi-organized chaos which was our birthday bash at Matoa, we moved a short way west around South Jakarta to visit Pondok Cabe this week. Never many frills, the course and the staff always deliver a good value for money experience and with a flurry of late sign-ups we ended up with 27 Tee Setters turning out to join us this week. Sunday being a holiday meant the roads were much quieter than normal so everyone was signed up in good time to be ready to head out when the cashier’s system allowed us to pay for the afternoon rate.

With little to disturb the sleeping cats in the clubhouse and the course being equally quiet, we were round in very good time under bright sunshine. All groups were in by 4pm and with presentations done by 4.30pm we were able to enjoy some refreshments and still head out in good time for an early trip home.

This week we welcomed 2 father and son pairings with long time Tee Set member Peter Bosterli, back after 2 1/2 years, bringing his son Lucas and Tim Henssen bringing Ruben, both sons playing their first games with Tee Set. Our other notable welcome back was Richard Green after 48 weeks. We hope to see you all out again soon.

Thank you to Ric Wymer for managing the scoring and prize giving on the day and the photos can be found here.

The Play

Rubbing his hands with glee at the thought of a 12-way tie for Most Strokes, the Treasurer eventually had to be content with just a tie of 2 as our Skirt winner, Michael Seabrook, and our Monster Putter, Oliver Fritz, shared this prize.

Most Improved went to new-comer Ruben Henssen whist Roger Finnie won First Sandy and Michael Mueller First Birdie, Michael benefiting from our 1-prize rule.

Master of the flat stick was James Ross whilst Richard Mau turned in the best score of the day to win Low Gross. Low Net honours on the day went to Simon Oxley, Richard Green and Lis Wymer.

Congratulations to all our winners and detailed results are here: Form_ Current Results pondok cabe 11819

Next Up: Tee Set World Cup on  Sunday 18th August 2019 at Riverside

The 4th edition of Tee Set’s World Cup of Golf event is now upon us and we look forward to a great day with many teams vying to wrestle the trophy off 3-time defending Champions, Srikandi. Following the good feedback from last year’s format, the World Cup will be held as a 1 day event again but we are returning to its inaugural venue, Riverside. The format will remain unchanged from 2018 with Teams of 4 competing for Best Net and Best Gross prizes and of course, the Tee Set World Cup Trophy – best 3 of 4 scores counting per hole for the team score.

The Event Supremo, Craig Edwards has already got 17 teams registered (see here to check out teams already registered)  for the competition but we still have room for a few more…  Remember teams are by nationality/logical geographical regions with national bragging rights on the line, so please sign up here when you are ready with your team.

For those not yet in a team or just wanting to come along and join the day, registrations are open for single players and please sign up here.

For any teams looking for a new team shirt, Sumo Caddy have made an offer to Tee Set members as attached here. Anybody interested should call/WhatsApp Richard Bittner on +6281229009999

If you are not joining Tee Set today and fancy a relaxed run refreshed by some beers, EP are arranging a hash event on the same day. Details are on our Classified Page on how to sign up and register.

2nd Annual East Java Challenge

Under the leadership of former President Craig Ewers and Mark Fiorello, we have arranged the 2nd East Java Challenge which this year will be based at the picturesque Taman Dayu course, just outside Surabaya.

As last year, it will be a 2-day Eclectic Tournament with the option of some social golf on Friday. The date is set for 21-22 September 2019 and with current trophy holder Fernando “El Guapo” Gaggino unable to defend his crown, we are sure to have a new champion this year. Details of the event are here: Second Annual Tee Set East Java Challenge MF and please contact directly to Craig Ewers at  Craig.Ewers@aipj.or.id if you are interested to attend
