To All Tee Setters, Sponsors, Committee Members and Supporters

You are receiving this as I am starting to play my last round as Tee Set President, weather permitting, after an enjoyable and rewarding 3 1/2 years. We now have at least one nomination for the role of President in 2020/21, the appointment of which will be formally anointed by the players present at the Championships next Saturday; I look forward thereafter to stepping back into the playing ranks as our new President and his/her Committee takes Tee Set forward to its next chapter.

It has been a pleasure to meet so many keen fellow golfers, to welcome new arrivals to Jakarta on behalf of the Society and to enjoy good golf with good people, on great courses at great prices. It never ceases to amaze me how far and wide the Tee Set legend has spread and that so many people already have us on their “to do” list by the time they arrive in Jakarta.

It has also been an honour to have been entrusted for these last few years to be a part of Tee Set’s enduring legacy. A couple of highlights of this time for me are the strengthening of our connections with the wider golfing fraternity here in Jakarta, including helping make handicaps more consistent across several of the week-end and mid-week golfing groups, and to have finally set down a fairly accurate version of Tee Set’s history on the website: click here if you have not yet read it https://teesetgolf.wordpress.com/tee-set-history/ ….. the rest I will leave to you all to gossip about….

There are a great number of people who step up to make Tee Set tick and they are a regular source of inspiration. A heartfelt and huge thank you to all the committee members, our fantastic and ever supportive sponsors, the golf course managers, the members who step in week to week to help with on-course administration and our band of secretaries who help out behind the scenes – it all happens due to your support and I am very appreciative of the contributions you have all made to make Tee Set run so smoothly. I would also like to thank the former Tee Set Presidents who have all made themselves available for guidance and to share ideas with so that we keep true to the spirit of the Society as the baton is passed from one period to the next.

I am not going anywhere, although I may be spending a few more Sundays with my family in the coming months as Jane has supported me, and therefore all of you, in allowing me the latitude and not inconsiderable time it takes to run Tee Set. I look forward to another grand event at our Championships next week and to rejoining the back benches thereafter…
