A picture paints a thousand words and this one does of the wonderful Cengkerang Golf Club. The greens were in perfect conditions the fairways hard but well grassed. The trees today seemed in the right position set back far enough to be missed. The par 5 5th played easier than usual and Alessandro proved that with an Eagle which both JP and Diarmuid testify was less than an inch from being an albatross.
11 flights headed off to contest the monthly medal with a few players backing up after the JHA Scramble on Friday, a great event, and either Pocksia or DOGS on Saturday. Weariness was not to be used as an excuse that day as some good scores were put in and most players played close to their handicaps. Pace of play was very good with just the usual rest spot on the par 3 12th. Remember the search rules of 3 minutes for balls that are hiding in flowerbeds or the rough. A fast game is a good game and it brings the beers that little bit closer.
Weather conditions were far from ideal with birds dropping out of the sky dead from breathing the heavily polluted air that now encases Jakarta. Planes taking off were quickly enveloped in a dirtbag of pollution. In every pollution cloud there is a silver lining, it stopped the sun beating down on us and by the second half of the round the pooh cloud had lifted a bit with the afternoon breeze. Returning to the sheds after the game a few non-smokers had developed coughs. Time to re-done your masks.
TEESET 40TH BIRTHDAY TEXAS SCRAMBLE
The big day is rapidly approaching and it will be big. Helped by the generous sponsorship of PT Delta Djakarta, makers of that iconic brew Anker. HotHead, best bbq dogs in town (and oil field equipment). Asian Tiger, who ya gonna call? And JS Luwansa, where all the best folk stay. Without the help of sponsors the package that the committee try to deliver each week would be impossible. So if you feel you or your company can help please have a chat with your friendly committee members. Back to the Scramble, it would be good if we could get 4 more flights to get close to maxing out the numbers. Please sign up via the TeeSetters Whatsapp chat or MyGolf2U if you don’t have a team we will put one together or you can form your own.
The day will be a shotgun start with great prizes for the winners and skill prizes also, plus the world famous TeeSet lucky draw. Sign up today so we can finalise things ASAP. Mulligans will be available make sure you buy some to increase your chances of winning and increase the club’s coffers.

The Winners Circle

After a Saturday spent clubbing baby seals Tom picks up his game and takes the kojo monthly medal with a handy 65 net. The prize money disappeared quicker than a (input inappropriate saying here)

Jannes, also having been given a bit of a roughing up on the East Course and Gunung Geulis, found Cengkareng more to his liking with a gross 79 including -1 on the second 9.

We don’t often get to give a prize away for an Eagle but this was one of those special days. Well done Alessandro. I hope you mentioned it a few times this week to Diarmuid.

Young boy, Hitoshi nailed a birdie on the first hole. Great start to a round. There were a few others that day but no point waiting until the 2nd hole when the prize is already gone. Great golf.

Long drives to that long driving couple Renny & Nicolas. 240m &150m. Not sure who hit which one.

Nearest to the pin Viboon 276cm. Great shot on a hole where many failed to make the green.

Rosie NTP 305cm great shot. Rosie’s game is getting better by the day.

Achim a German visitor from the Netherlands nailed the first sandy on the 17th. Lovely bunker work.
It was great to see some players returning after an absences of varying lengths. We had Lorenzo, Neil, the Sheard boys, Lucas & Robert, and Hakim. It’s always good to see old friends whether visiting or just starting to reconnect with the TeeSet Family.
Make sure you get to Gading Raya for a great day out this Sunday
