Imperial The First round of the new term

Good morning TeeSetters this will be a rather short newsletter due to time constraints and an unusually busy week in the financial planning world also a rather early tee off time this morning. Morning golf, it aint good for you. The day gets hotter the longer you go. Anyways lets get back to Imperial. This is not one of the President’s favourite courses. It’s not a long course but what it has is too many novelty holes. If I want novelties I will go to Dunia Fantasi. Many other TeeSet golfers do like so we visit a few times a year. They did have a good after golf beer promo on but were just a bit slow delivering the beer.

The day was off to a good start with our groups hitting off on the scheduled tee off time. I was inconveniently placed on the right hand side of Madonna’s boob with no view of the green and made a meal of the hole which brought forward a short tirade of the best Presidential language. A nice slice off the 4th landed on the 5th fairway a lot further than what Alessandro managed to slice his on the same hole. The day went good, bad, indifferent. So took advantage of a few of the beer stops to indulge in a few cans of the nectar of the gods. It didn’t help my game but it did improve my state of mind.

Back to the club house, as a two ball we were travelling quick only slowed down by the 4 ball which we caught after 4 holes. Which allowed the wild bunch of Roberto, Alessandro, Diarmuid and Jude to stay in touch the rest falling behind. A quick shower and back to the bar and happy hour woohoo there is a reason to play golf. Roberto was sitting there not looking happy. It seems he had a similar day out to what I had just been through and a similar love to Imperial also but beer was on the way and as we all know beer fixes all problems and also has a hand it starting most of them as well. There had been some rain that day, not enough to stop play, barely enough to warrant an umbrella but there’s always on group. Bags, Bill, Nic and Richard needed shelter and were very late back to the club house. We may see them playing off the reds so if that fear of a little drizzle requires sheltering. But it did give Bags an opportunity to speak to his bank to see if his credit was still good. Meanwhile back in the shed Jude is grinning like a cheshire cat, he’s had one of his better rounds a gross 78. which saw him go even on the back 9. His co-players were giving him a hard time about his handicap.

Let’s get to the winners as the R&A awaits me today.

Jude wiith an astonishing 44 points was todays winner. I told you he was grinning like a Cheshire cat. Well done mate.

Nic once again pinches low gross with a solid 76 after a nice rest during the light rain.

Richard is in the money courtesy of the first birdie of the day.

Well done Mo with a pretty handy 25 taps of the flat stick to take out low putts.

Bill takes out the Best Clubman award for season 2023 after many years of going the extra yard to ensure the ongoing success of TeeSet. It’s quiet behind the scenes efforts which we have seen from Bill over the years that makes him a very deserving winner of this award. He just needs to advertise the Italian restaurant BSD option better 🙂

Richard presenting Nicolas with his award for tying Richard in the Low Gross category at last week’s championship.

The one thing that we all took away from Imperial was the camaraderie that was shared by all in the clubhouse in the after game warm down. It was really good to see. It may have been helped out by Happy Hour 2 for 1 beers. But it was an enjoyable late afternoon.

Next Sunday Pondok Cabe

This Sunday we join with the DOGS to farewell Sami Kekonen who has been lucky enough to be posted to that desert paradise of the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia. Some guys have all the luck. 12.15 shotgun start don’t be late sign up on MyGolf2U via DOGS or TeeSet. It will be played from the whites.

Selamat Pagi
