Truly one of Jakarta’s best kept golfing secrets. A course that challenges golfers more attuned to the resort style layouts that offer forgiveness more often than challenging a golfer. JGC challengers golfers and TeeSet Golfers live for a golfing challenge.
Our first game of 2024 saw a dark and stormy sky greeting the 26 intrepid and high-spirited Tee Setters who ventured to Rawamangun to take on the devilishly tricky lay out of Jakarta Golf Club. Golfers are ever optimistic about the weather and on this day they were well rewarded with a dry and clear round despite the constant grumbling from above, with the many trees only needed for a little bit of shade and to redirect the frequent errant shots back towards the fairways.
With net par being the best outcome, clearly the course had the better of the day but with the round being fairly quick, many tee setters stayed back to enjoy the free Anker kindly included in the green fee and several more to boot.
Small, well bunkered greens are a feature of the course and with Richard Mau’s radar being slightly off, he was able to chip and putt his way to Low Putts for the day on 22, eclipsing the next best returns of 27 putts, a number usually competitive but not on this day. Roger Finnie struck early for First Birdie on 1 whilst Hitoshi Maruyama’s (double) Sandy Par on hole 1 was matched by Max Sollfrank.
Aryan Gambhir has been on a tear recently and whilst a little more than his recent high standards, his 77 was more than enough to win Low Gross whilst Roger Finnie pipped Stephen Lowry for Low Net. Thank you to JGC management for their hospitality again, the Singing President for stepping in to do the awards and to Adhe for her management of the day.
This Sunday: 4-Club Challenge at Pondok Cabe
Our annual 4-club challenge is back at Pondok Cabe and no doubt we will have the usual mixture of those offering 10 clubs for sale on Tokopedia on Monday having found the 4 work just as well and those wondering why they decided it was a good idea given the inability to master the game with 14! Either way it’s a fun round and one which produces more stories of daring do than most.
For those not wanting to torture themselves on the challenge of choosing 4 clubs, just come along and play your usual game, all welcome.
JGC Winners

Roger off to a flying start to the year with best Stableford on a count back from Steve.

Low gross 77 to Aryan who met the challenge of JGC. Well done.

The Sandy Twins Hitoshi and Max
I would like to thank Craig for handling the ceremonial side of last Sunday’s activities and Roger for his write up of the round.
Sign up on MyGolf2U for the 4 club challenge ASAP to avoid disappointment.
Best Regards
The President, B.I.T.
