Val, as he’s know down the club, can sweet stroke his way around the course with the best of them, playing low hcp golf like a helicopter husband dotting on a bride, making the score. Val on weekends and boys trips away likes to bring out the other personality. He is also the patron saint of Beekeepers. We all know what beekeepers do they make honey and we all know what the best by-product of honey is, mead. Mead is what men drank before the Anker Brewery was built, hence the logic. Val blesses drunken golfers on Valentine’s Day. We’re not done with Val yet, he is also known to have a bit of an issue on the course as a result of a few too many meads and the toys come flying out of the pram and the scorecard is a shocker. We are missing a photo of the same sex winners on the day, but your scribe knows who they were. It was Richard and Nicolas they hit a scintillating 69 off the stick.

Valentine’s epileptics in last place Bags & Mr Mee. Well done, sort of.

A glorious day with no rain, plenty of camaraderie both on and off the course and the wine, beer and whisky flowed until late.
