I’m back, wanna play?

The Strangely Linear, Reasonable 30-Year History of Chucky

Last week while Teesetters were dodging bunkers and water hazards at the Kojo Monthly Medal at Cengkareng I was dodging kangaroo carcasses on the drive back from playing one of Victoria’s premier river courses at Yarrawonga, called Black Bull. A cool 39 degrees centigrade in the shade (there is not a lot). The course has come a long way since it opened 10 years back. This is wine country so visits to wineries was something that was always going to be on the agenda. Definitely, after the golf and the Murray river booze cruise, the highlight was the Elvis impersonator at the Lake Mulwala Ski Club. I’m all shook up aah.

This may or may not be the President attempting to mount the black bull.

Meanwhile back in Jakarta a more normal legion of golfers were playing for honours in the Monthly Low Net Medal. A reasonable crowd of 38 golfers were present and according to all reports got off to a timely start and the speed of the greens was very playable. Yet to hear who took the money in the usual punters’ groups. I was very happy to see Vijay not in the last group.

As I was actually thousands of KMs away I truly have no idea what happened. A more honest statement you will never read from an elected official. So let’s get down to the prizes. A picture never lies.

Roger the maestro of Cengkareng takes the medal with a net 68. Well done.

Another golfer who knows his way around this course is Simon. Low gross winner with a well played 78 off the stick. On his way to that score, a drive down the middle measuring 258 metres didn’t hurt his cause.

Barely misses a week without picking up some dough, this time for long drive with a cracking 160 metres. Well done Shinta.

Keeping the prizes in the family is Jens with a nearest to the pin win. A measurement of 9 was supplied so maybe 9 metres or centimetres? Well done anyway.

The man who towered over all in the previous shots now towers over no one with a victory in the low putts division. A very handy 25 a huge improvement. Well done Dean

A big thanks to Dean and Roger in running the medal in the President’s absence and thanks to the ever reliable Adhe. It is a team effort.

Sunday the 3rd of March Modern Golf & Country Club

This Sunday we join with DOGS for a pleasant Sunday’s golf at Modern. Truly one of the flattest courses in town. The steepest part are the stairs in the clubhouse. Flat it may be but bunkers and water keep us on our toes, and all greens have been raised a bit seeing many a golfer come upshort. Get your name down, places filling quickly, use either TeeSet or DOGS MyGolf2U to register

Bandung Bash

The Easter weekend of the 28th of March sees TeeSet go on the road. To Giri Gerhana golf club in Sumedang?Bandung area. The toll road goes right to the golf course and the trip with low traffic can be done in under 2 hours but normally a relaxing 2 hour plus drive. There is golf on Friday and Saturday to determine the Bash Champ. TeeSet will run a combined day on the Saturday. Sunday can be a leisurely drive home or arrange a game at GG on Sunday or one of the courses on the way back to Jakarta.

We will have final prices next week when the RAmadan price list is released. In the meantime sign up on MyGolf2U. Still pondering? Ask Dean, Tom, Bill, Cucu, Siti and others about how good is the weekend.

Jakarta Interleague Matchplay

This competition starts in March. TeeSet is fielding a pretty strong team this year as we aim to wrest the cup from last years winner? Who was it? Anyways wanna play? Speak to Dean.
