Well it poured down on Sunday on the way to golf and the rain clouds were heading to Modern. This could be a long drive for nothing, methinks. Then I realise that it rains so rarely on TeeSet Sundays that most players only have umbrellas to give them shade. On arrival at Modern, having avoided Mr Google’s stupid Kampung directions, I arrived at the carpark which was fuller than a seaside outhouse on Boxing Day. Having dumped the Presidential Clubs at reception I took the Presidential car park on the roundabout just mere metres from the entrance. It’s good to be President. Basically a well executed illegal park that would have seen your car keyed in most western countries.
TeeSetters and DOGS were spaced out over a few long tables and John & Rod were welcoming players and collecting fees. The change rooms were overflowing and baggage chits were being handed out as all lockers were full. A bit of disgruntlement but soon forgotten and on return to the clubhouse everyone’s bag had been placed in a locker, quite a smooth operation.
The practise areas were crammed with people practising so much, it was nice to enjoy the cool environs of the clubhouse. A few golfers were getting on the putting juice before the game started others were having a late brunch. I was busy canvassing for next years election, like hell I was. George was back in good to see him back in town, looking for work or looking for retirement. Sunday golf indicates work.
DOGS had a rrange a semi-shotgun start off the back 9. The smiling assassin, Flannigan was in the group in front so I was feeling safe. The start was delayed by 15 minutes and then we were off the speed of play was fine the standard of play a bit iffy from the President, still suffering jetlag fro the 6 hour flight from Melbourne. That’s my excuse and I’m running with it.
The first games of the TeeSet match play were decided with Axel prevailing over Tek in a tight game 2:1. Joe had a win over Albert 4:3. Please get your games in ASAP. This Sunday presents a great opportunity at Gading Raya. Let Adhe no so she can set up the pairings. Sign up for this Sunday’s game on MyGolf2U
Upcoming events we have the Bandung BAsh over the Easter weekend. Spots are filling quickly so get your name down to avoid eternal disappointment. Those with kids there is a brand new fun park right next door to the hotel. Always a great weekend and good to be out of Jakarta.
In the not too distant future we have the World Cup so now is a good time to be mustering your country mates and working on uniforms.
A blazing big day/night on the Hash yesterday where another elite sporting body has taken me on as their leader, the stupidity of people and their picking of leaders here is only out done by the Republicans. At least I won’t end up in jail.
See ya round like a Renoir
