Well, it may have been East of Java prior to the big bang of 1883. Maybe that’s where Sam went? Anyways a bunch of us found our way down to Royale Krakatua in Cilegon. When I see the word Royale I think of Pulp Fiction and Travolta. Where a McRoyale is the French version of a Quarter Pounder and if you try and order one of those at the Cilegon Dirty Rons (McDonalds), they will have no idea what you are talking about. Oops I must get rid of that aluminium kettle, I digress again. Let’s get back to the golf. 50 plus golfers and partners headed down the Merak Toll road for a weekends golf and festivities and what a weekend it was a 2 day Stableford combined points.

The weather was overcast and we were warned of slow greens but not of a slow round. There was a movie once called Field of Dreams which became famous for the phrase ” If you build it they will come”. The same could be said about golf courses in Indonesia, we had been expecting a quiet round with a shotgun start. Boom the shotgun start ran us straight into flight after flight of Korean golfers. If you build it they will come. From the first hole we were behind flights of Koreans and arriving at the 10th there was a squadron awaiting. I heard Bill “Beer Bags” navigated this problem successfully by driving to the front of the queue. The course was in good nick and Michael and Frank got off to a fly with pars on the first two holes. Michael then followed up with a birdie on the 3rd.

The weather on day one was great for golf, a bit hazy from some seasonal burn off, but it kept the sun away. The long par 5 saw the ladies teeing off with a 100 metre+ advantage. I handled it well until a point having finally, on my 3rd shot, getting past Madame President to be short of the greenside bunker. The next 5 shots to navigate the final 40 metres were magical to say the least. The language was blue.

Back in the club house and we had a fairly close leaderboard. Who could hold it together on the Sunday? Who would leave the Korean BBQ at a sensible hour? Who would avoid Bill “Beer Bags” Red light disco on the way home from the BBQ? Who would show up looking like they had been run over by a truck? Who thought they were a good karaoke singer? Don’t go anywhere folks this and much more will be revealed below. Read on

8am, thats right readers 8am on a lovely Sunday morning when this reporter is normally still dozing off in the Noddy Box but not this Sunday it was tee off time, OMG, oh Bill’s red light disco, oh the crappy buffet breakfast, oh Roger stealing my coffee :-), oh having to wake up at 6 to get there for 8. The horror! The horror! The hangover! The hangover!

The leading players from yesterday’s round were partnered up to give it a bit of a LIV final round feel. The questions on everyones minds were ” Can they keep it together? Will there be a dark horse making a bolt for the prize? The question on my mind was why, why 8am?

Golfers to your carts. I was paired up with Kevin, Cucu and Tom and there were two Pocksia matchplays to be won. To put it briefly Tom pulled my pants down early and I never got to pull them back up. He also took a nearest the pin in the demolition, now I may need professional help to get over this issue or just not roll up pissed on the first tee (15th). Cucu, like a cat toying with its prey let Kevin feeling that there may be a chance, before snuffing him out with a few to play. Well done Tom & Cucu. There was a bit of wild life about Mi spotted a butterfly and there were a few civet cats sneaking around the course. What was more common were the calls of the foriegn wildlife fore, fore, fore was heard through out the round I even put in a few dozen calls myself. But one lazy Korean failed to call which led to Roberto copping a hit on the right side of his head whilst waiting on the 18th tee box. He pondered calling it quits as the world spun around him but mustering his wits and courage he played on through the last five holes, with 4 pars and a bogey and came storming through the field to claim first prize. Bulldozing Alessandro back into second place. Nicolas took the 2 day Gross. I took a hiding from Tom

Nicolas. Alessandro. Roberto.

TeeSet Birthday Scramble

In the month of August we have the birthday scramble, now is the time to start organizing your team.

Once again thanks for everyone for joining us at Royale Krakatua last Sunday. All the Karaoke singers were wonderful except for that horrible duet by 2 drunks who will remain nameless to protect their families from public shaming and community scorn.

Adios mi constituyentes

El Presidente
