Glorious Golfing at Gunung Geulis

Saturday in Jakarta, the sky could not be seen due to the amount of cats and dogs falling from it. It rained and rained and then rained some more. This caused a few of the light-hearted to cancel Sunday with the expectations that the same would prevail. So much rain fell on Saturday there was nothing left come Sunday and the 22 golfers that headed to Gunung Geulis were treated to the most glorious golfing conditions that Jakarta has to offer. We had the coolness of the mountains, well manicured greens with a good break in them. The fairways were fine with very few damp spots from the previous days deluge.

As those that have played and enjoyed Gunung Geulis we know afternoons are quiet with 36 holes spreading golfers across the mountain in a comfortable manner. The speed of play was fantastic, to the point of being unbelievable. The first group had returned to the clubhouse at 4pm and this was after encountering a few golfers dropping in on the 10th. The above picture is Steve teeing off on the 5th. Back to how glorious it was, no one even broke a sweat and we walked most of the course.

The standard of play was quite high, most likely owing to the glorious conditions, over half the field had 36 or more stableford points. As other players rolled in with happy countenances on their faces, it was a clear indicator of how glorious the day was. It was so glorious that Holger, who got skinned in Wingman, was demanding to know when was the next date for TeeSet there. You will be happy to know we have 3 more dates here before the return of the rainy season.

Glorious

The Winners

Roberto with a well struck 39 Stableford points takes the money, from those who were in the sauna or dining elsewhere. Hitoshi low gross with an 83 is this week’s LGW. JP first birdie on hole number 2 well done on a good round. This week’s putting champion is Craig with 30 taps of the least lofted club in the bag.

Conclusion

We all had a great time. Tom’s playing group were very impressed with his distance off the tees and a very impressive first 9. Vijay was happy he could remove the blot of a 9 from his scorecard by playing good golf over the remaining holes. Luca was happy he beat Jude in the TeeSet matchplay. Thanks for the photos Mike Webb & Richard Mau. In a word GLORIOUS

A quick word on the match play, this Sunday is the last week to finish games for the current round. Please let Adhe know who you are playing so she can arrange the pairings.

See ya Sunday

Love
