The Kojo Monthly Medal

We had 56 golfers last Sunday which is one of the larger crowds we have had of recent times at the medal. Is this a sign of the President’s increasing popularity or the fact that Jakarta has finally chased away the rainy weather? Of course it is not the later or the former for that matter, we are there to play a great golf course that keeps golfers honest. This golfer was kept very honest after attempting to play after a long 8 hour session at various social events on Saturday evening. Your popularity soars when you are president as does your Sunday score.

We got off to a very timely start, with the first flights off at the advertised time. The weather was a bit toasty at the start and the President was producing pure ethanol, in the form of sweat. The beauty of a 12pm tee off is that as the day progresses the temperature drops to become a pleasant afternoon. Speed of play was ok with the last flights that had teed off from the 1st hole chasing the sun but back in reasonable light. Staring at the lie and hole for ten minutes doesn’t change anything. If you can’t read greens ask your caddy or buy an expensive golf gadget.

The Presidential 4some got off to a blazing start with pars and birdies over the first 4 holes and the President picked up a head injury when he walked into a low slung branch, being still numb from the previous night’s adventures the only pain he felt was the ensuing triple bogey. A pain more psychological than physical and a pain that some people never recover from. As the day progressed the tree line moved closer and closer to the fairway it seemed.

Ahead of us Simone was taking on Carter in a matchplay which lasted 17 holes before Simone was able to claim victory 2 and 1. Behind us were Hitoshi and Luca also battling it out to move into the next round. Luca persevered to claim the match over Hitoshi. A great day for Italy is a great day for golf. With the olympic well and truly underway there have been a few controversies from the opening ceremony to men beating women up in the boxing ring so don’t be surprised if we see the President hitting off the reds this Sunday.

As were were playing our 9th hole, the corresponding front 9 flight was teeing off on the 10th so they were about a hole a head of us. Swinging on to the back 9 the numbness from the previous activities had become comfortably numb so blasted around in 43 and headed off to the showers with a handsome 104 on the scorecard. Do the maths. It ain’t pretty. By the time mandi time was over the sun had got much lower and the stragglers were heading to the showers.

Roger and Rod had hosted the creator of the MyGolf2U app that has become such an integral part of TeeSet scoring and handicapping. I would like to thank Fazel for paying us a visit and we look forward to further updates and improvements to the app and hope to see him again soon. He did mention that Sunday’s golf was more enjoyable than Saturday’s and he was heading to Imperial Teletubbyland on Monday.

Speaking of the MyGolf2U app this is what we do our scoring on. It is your job to enter the scores into it not Adhe, unless you are the President of course. As you are not the President take the 2 second effort per hole to enter your score. Also we had a few plays forget to pay Adhe the Rp.100k registration fee. Pay this in future before you head out to practise your chipping or putting. It also helps avoid the cost of hiring a few Ambonese to pay you a visit.

To the winners

Shinta takes the Kojo Monthly Medal with a handicap busting nett 64. Super round young lady.

Another golfer having a great Sunday was Claudio with a superb 74 gross. I heard his jaw bone crack when he beamed for the cameras.

The birdie boys bankrupting TeeSet. Claudio, JP, Graham all get birds on their first hole. What’s that say on the President’s shirt? Yes

Hands off the President. Nic takes long drive with a 256 metre tap down the middle.

Long Drive ladies to the ever consistent Rosie with a hit of 156 metres

Jessica with a well played shot on the 8th takes the candy and buys the boys a beer with a 2.56 metre shot to the pin.

Henk with a 3.75 landing point is in the money for men’s nearest the pin.

Young Craig takes first Sandy par on the 13th. Luckily we don’t do sandy birdies or that would have seen the money go to Ryan on the 2nd. Well done Craig

He’s a surprise Richard takes low putts, just 26 taps of the flat stick.

Other Issues

In recent weeks when booking courses we have been told that the behaviour of some TeeSetters has been below standard when dealing with other golfers from outside TeeSet and also course staff.
I would like to remind you that we are a fun golf society and trowing the toys out of the pram never solves anything. So if your caddy bring you the wrong club or the waiter brings you the wrong bill just relax it isn’t worth havin a heart attack over it.

Sunday off to Riverside

TeeSet fully booked as we speak but there maybe a drop out so keep an eye on the aapp if you wish to play. This picturesque course offers challenging green, bunkers with no lips, a nice clubhouse with spa facilities. See you on Sunday on our best behaviour.

TeeSet Birthday Scramble

This will be held on the 8th of September. It is promising to be a big day with 11 teams already signed up. So get a team together for a great days fun on the golf course. There will be a singles list on Sunday that you can put your name on, so you can be put in a team. Great prizes and apres golf action.

Make sure you get your match play finanlised as per the schedule.

Regards

President
