A trip to Palm Hills

Palm Hills, a course that has not been played for quite some time by the TeeSet was visited by an elite, albeit small field, of TeeSet golfers. The promised tee time had disappeared out the window but the golfers were eventual standing at the tee box to get things underway. The course has 16 holes left but plays as 18 and this maybe one on the last times we get to play it as the bulldozers of development edge closer. The good news is that a new Palm Hills is already under construction further up the hill toward the top of Hambalang. This will make Palm Hills a true mountain course hopefully on a par with Gunung Guelis. That’s Hambalang in the background of the photo. There is a road that runs beside the current Palm Hills to the new location. The road has been there for years and has been remade more often than the Merak Tol, maybe the next makeover they will get it right and we’ll be golfing there in the not too distant future.

The small numbers was partially due to the Asian Tigers 45 Hole Challenge organised by Bill Lloyd the previous day. The President was as stiff as a board after spanking whitey over the Jagorawi courses on Saturday, plus a case of trench foot and a slight, but not to damaging hangover. Braver souls such as Jens, Shinta and Bill all backed up after the 45, oh to be young again.

Jens and Shinta both had wonderful rounds both finishing on 42 Stableford points which is truly a wonderful achievement after being on Shank’s pony for 11 hours the day before. Jens won on a coutback but Shinta was all smiles later that evening at the Bull & Vine birthday

WINNERS

Two iron men but it was Jens who was on fire with the winning Stablkeford score of 42

Rosie back in form takes the low gross with a well executed 83 strokes.

Shinta got her day off to a flying start with a birdie on the 1st hole.

TEESET BIRTHDAY SCRAMBLE PANGKALAN JATI THIS SUNDAY

OK fellow TeeSetters the teams are nearly all set the shotgun start has been organised now all you have to do is show up and play golf. There are 6 team prizes for the best nets and grosses then there are over 36 lucky draw prizes and they all happen to be alcohol. Woohoo!

On top of this we have the pre-game Presidential Spritz on offer for the early arrivals, bound to go quickly. You can buy well priced and well chilled beers on the course. After the game we have a heap of ice cold beer for players to enjoy over their dinner (you pay for your food). Plus I believe there will be music/karaoke playing into the evening. A special birthday cake organised by Mr. Mau and prepared by the chefs at J S Luwansa will be cut. There is no corkage so if you feel like bringing your favorite tipple along feel free to do so. Sharing is caring, especially with the President. Don’t forget to cancel Monday morning at the office.

Rules and Teebox allocations will be published on the Whatsapp group Saturday. So pay attention. Speed of play needs to be maintained so we can all get back and get stuck into the beer sponsored by San Miguel and TeeSet, who have bought some beers from the club. The kitchen will be a bit overwhelmed, probably, with so many players so please have some patience as they prepare your food. It might be smart to order before showering. A menu of what is available will be sent out via the Whatsapp group tomorrow.

Food and drinks prior to the game paid for by the individual. Please ensure all bills are settled before departure. Let’s have fun.

None of this happens without your Committee and Sponsors a big thanks to Roger for getting the Teams and handicaps organised. Also to our Sponsors San Miguel, Bull & Vine, Wine Cartel, J S Luwansa and Asian Tigers.

Happy Anniversary

Mr President
