41st Anniversary of the Glorious TeeSet

The above photo is just a fraction of the wonderful San Miguel product that was enjoyed by the TeeSetterslast Sunday. The array of beers being produced these days is nearly as many as the array of shots on display by the TeeSetters on Sunday. The big difference is that San Miguel is all quality. Thanks again for your generous sponsorship. Golfers were treated to the Presidential Spritz on arrival which helped golfers get into their groove or numbed them comfortably to what lay ahead.

23 teams took to the field last Sunday in hot conditions. Jakarta had been hot with no rain and nary a cloud to be seen for the last 2 months. This meant fairways that ran and greens that were fast. The condition of the course was as good as it gets at PJ a credit to the greenkeeper and his staff. With a semi shot-gun start of 12 holes we were away. The one thing that was missing, to the usual extent, during the day was the cry of Fore. Anyways each team needed 3 drives from each member and most teams seemed to achieve this in a well timed manner. None better timed than the Spin Dryers who left it to the last hole where a golf carefully place his final drive next to the bridge on the 9th hole. How a par was made from there is now one of the 7 miracles of the golfing world.

The sound of cheers across the course as birdie after birdie was added to the team scores gave the course and day a feeling of joy, happenings in the Middle East and Ukraine were momentarily forgotten as we revelled in the joys of the TeeSet Anniversary. The pace of play was fast with the Olé Olé Longshankers catching the Spin Dryers. I think the Longshankers may have had one or two too many adult beverages on the way around but who am I to judge? It also helped that they had electric chariots to drag them around whereas Spin Dryers, Samurai Warriors & Diamonds in the Rough were all on Shank’s pony and it was hot.

There were a few teams that made an effort in the best dressed category, The Flying Finns, Kartoffel, Swingout Sisters, The Gimme Gang and Cucu and the Nutsacks. In a close call the Gimme Gang in their Virgin white attire took the prize.

A day like this does not happen all by itself and I would like to thank the TeeSet Committee of Bill Lloyd, Craig Ewers, Dean Merriless, Sam Westen and Roger Finnie without their support and constructive management of this event things could have really run off the rails. Also a special thanks to Adhe for doing a lot of behind the scene tasks. A great job by Roger on the day getting the scores tallied and the prizes out in a very timely manner. Congratulations to all the winners on the day but the biggest winners were all the 23 teams that came out to play and made the day so enjoyable for everyone. The camaraderie amongst TeeSetters throughout the day makes this group and this day a must attend annual event. Having said that, every Sunday is rather pleasant with TeeSet.

A big thanks to Richard Mau and his culinary team at J S Luwansa for the fantastic Birthday Cake, Ex-Presidents in the photo and one not so ex.

The Whispering President gave a short speech about the origins and early history of TeeSetters which was appreciated by all and Rod lead the crowd in thanking the committee for the day

The winner of the Wine Cartel lucky draw on Sunday was the ever lucky Cucu, she must have some Irish blood.

Here is a link to the phots foorm the day which includes all the winners and some action shots from the course. https://bit.ly/4cXKU6D

The crowd began to disperse just before 8pm and many relocated to the Bull & Vine for a few evening lagers. Seemed like a good idea until I awoke on Monday with a blazing hangover which still lingers.

Below the winners and below them your Team’s finishing spot.

This Sunday at Pondok Cabe

We return for the first time in a while to Pondok Cabe. A Sunday traffic friendly location and a course that has improved over the years. It will be our regular Stableford and we are planning an evening dinner at Bull & Vine after the golf. We hope to see you there. Book via MyGolf2U

Once again a big thanks to San Miguel, Asian Tigers, Bull & Vine and the Wine Cartel for their support of TeeSet.

See ya,

Mr President
