A great view of the first hole on the Old Course, we played the New Course. Both have the habit of eating the President’s balls ( no reading between the lines please). We are getting to the pointy end of the season where points are at a premium in this 33rd running of the JIL (except for Covid misses). We were up against the Pocksia mob who have been working their way up through the field after a pretty rough start. Captain Sam was back and Vice-captain Dean was gone. Gone to get some renovations done on the old pegs. He’ll be dangerous when he’s back.
The driving range was a popular venue for Teesetters on this very hot Sunday morning. Arriving just after a couple of Pocks had arrived I beat them to the driving bays and sat down and had a smoke as I nursed last night’s hangover. I had had a cunning plan to get a few of the Pocksia members blotto the night before I believe it backfired with the President feeling wobbly at the range.

We had 4 TeeSetters there limbering up and only the ever reliable Daniel brought home the bacon with narrow losses to Sam, Albert and the guy above.
It was the first time I have visited a driving range prior to a round, and it had a match day feel about it as I never hit the same ball twice. Anyways, off to the clubhouse to meet up with the rest of the team. Jeff was full of beans and ready to go. Craig and Peter were relaxed, anymore relaxed and they would have been liquid. Finally, its off to the carts and I cart Viboon off the practise green and off we go. Arriving at the 9th we have a bit of time and the banter is on but things look good for TeeSet as Sam pops one over the bunker for the long drive win. The singles are off with Sam V Nick, a battle of the captains and Daniel V Ian that will be a battle royal. Next to follow are Viboon and myself V Roger & Fernando. We make a tentative start by stuffing up the drives and are down one immediately.
Luckily I had a male Jagorawi caddy. These guys are on another planet when it comes to assisting in green reading and course management. Unfortunately for me, a village somewhere was missing their idiot and he had shown up to impersonate a caddy on JIL day. He was about as much use as a chocolate teapot, no idea where I had hit my ball (that made 2 of us), no idea about what breaks were on the greens and he thought I could hit my irons like a pro, handing my a 7 iron from 160 out. Pretty sure there was some Pocksia skullduggery behind this :-). Beaten 3&2 by a competent pair, but we did have too many missed chances to really put pressure on them when it mattered. I did get a new daddy being the only bright side of the round. Hi Fernando where’s me pocket money?
Ahead of us the pairs took one game each Daniel “The Ironman” Park winning 5&4 whilst Sam went down 2&1in a tight one. Jeff and Albert got off to a bright start but were reeled in by Rey and Nanin. Peter & Craig continued their successful pairings and had a good win over Bruce & Velma. Well played Pocksia who now draw level with TeeSet in equal 3rd. TeeSet now have everything to play for heading into the last game of the season at Pondok Cabe against the DOGS. Jaws sitting on top of the table with Tin Cups and Wolves snapping at their heels.
TeeSetters did have a win taking home the last to leave trophy yet again. Many jugs later it was decided that last to leave gets two points. That gives us an extra 12 points and rockets us into the lead.
