Valentine’s Day Scramble

The couples golf event of the year. Trump may have binned DEI but is alive and well at TeeSet as we saw in the same sex couples and threesomes gathered for this event at Pondok Cabe. Weather looked threatening but the Valentine’s punch and Bloody Marys put golfers at ease. 41 golfers participated and 41 golfers had a great day with 2 brief showers cooling the passion of playing partners. Men and women pairings played from the red tee boxes as did the 3some the gluten free gaylords played from the whites.

Tee off from the Reds is a whole different world, with good drives being rewarded with a pitch onto the green. Doglegs disappeared and bunkers looked less intimidating. No wonder the ladies of TeeSet have so much more fun on their regular outings off the reds.

A little less effort went into the couples dress this year but there were some standouts with Jane and Roger going back to back in winning it for the second year. Roger also did a wonderful job hosting the event with the organisation of the handicaps, scoring and the ladies’ goody bags.

Also back for another double was the dynamic pairing of Velma and Hitoshi who defended their title in a close fought event. Well played and it was great to see them celebrating with their TeeSet friends late into the night.

Taking the best gross was the pairing of Anna & David. This their first outing as a golfing couple delivered in aces with a pretty handy 71 off the stick.

Filling the minor positions on the day were Dewi and John and Sarah and John. Both these couples enjoyed the night and the music of John Paul.

A father and son took the best male team nett. Well done to Andy and Carter. Your cunning plan worked, Andy.

The best 3 ball with a gross 72 was led by Eli, with limited support from George and Michael. The bottle was not shared :-). Limited competition but that’s how we like it

The event went long into the evening with all sorts of beverages being on offer and as the last of the morning’s Bloody Mary’s were consumed so ended another successful TeeSet Valentine Scramble.

The TeeSet Matchplay Championship Draw

The draw has been made and will be available for viewing this Sunday at the Monthly Medal. We still need one more player so let us know if you can. First in best dressed.

The first round is not a knock out just determines which side of the draw you will be on. Games need to be completed by Easter.
