The Glorious TeeSet Monthly Medal

The numbers were just about at the maximum allowed by Cengkareng, with 42 sign ups. We had one late cancellation but the rest were there in time for a slightly earlier tee time than what was advertised. This bode well for a quick round. The weather conditions looked threatening but the big spirit upstairs knows not to rain on Glorious TeeSet during the Kojo Monthly Medal. The track looked slow as there had been a bit of rain but not enough to disallow the lame from riding in buggies.

The new look Medal has the men of the White Tees and all of a sudden you are looking at the golf course through rose tinted glasses. It looks a bit less intimidating. Especially for today’s scribe who has been known to slice a drive off the blues on the 5th onto the practise putting area. Not many golfers could manage that and none want to. So what looked like a quick round turned into a pleasant stroll as the course was crowded. This allowed players to relax & partake of their favorite beverage and get to know their playing partners. The group I was in had Emil, Axel and newbie, Silvy. As Axel pointed out to Silvy she was luck to be in the company of the 3 finest gentlemen currently playing with TeeSet. I couldn’t have put it better myself. Emil was hitting it long and making his shots. Silvy was hitting it way long off the tees and will be challenging for long drive at the next monthly medal. Myself and Axel enjoyed the walk and the company. Both Silvy and Emil failed to make Eagles by 1 metre (hole 3) and 10cm (hole 1) respectively, but getting to the Eagle position was a joy to watch. The level of golf at Glorious TeeSet is at the next level currently.

In front of us was Dancing Rosita, Jens the club flexer, Bob HotDogs & Nenden. They were playing at a steady pace and Jens nailed a couple of birdies on his way around. Speaking of birdies the old caddie whisper and past president and medal sponsor, Mr Thwaites nailed 2 birds in a row. Spotted in death valley over on the 14th was Holger, not a nice place to be with a lot of wood to navigate through. Somehow he managed a birdie on that hole. Not to be out done on the 14th Anirudh popped up for an Eagle. Meanwhile playing partners Vijay and Hitoshi added up the costs.

Steve and Ed had a well mapped out plan, to carry enough beer to reach the first rest station, reload and golf on, both had good rounds proving that beer does make the golfing world go round. Whisky was the choice of the flight behind us with Joe, Jason. Albert and maybe Sari having a wee dram or two on the way around. Happy trails to Albert who departs shortly for sunny Scotland with promised returns just around the corner.

Being in an earlier flight I could see the happy faces of the golfers as they arrived in the restaurant. We had 15 players out of 42 who played to handicap or better and another 18 who were within 4 shots of their handicap. The rest need to work on their game, beer will probably help. Let’s get to the day’s winners.

Kojo Monthly Medal winner with a very impressive Net 63 was Holger. He will be wearing the same golf outfit forever, golfers being such superstitious types. Congratulations on the superb round.

Anirudh takes best gross with an even with the card performance 72. With a superb 31, through his first 9 holes.

Ani also took first Eagle on the 14th and would have had long drive but we can’t give him everything.

Hitoshi was playing in the same group as the two winners above and after 1 hole was leading due to a birdie on the 1st. Well done Hitoshi.

Long drive ladies goes to Sari with a booming 184 metre drive. Sorry we don’t pay in USD

Long drive mens goes to this bloke 235 metres off a sprinkler head. Anirudh was a lazy 50 odd metres further down the track. Two sprinkler heads?

NTP winner Richard with a ball punched to within 180cm.

Trisna making an impact on her first TeeSet round taking nearest the pin 6m. Well done. See you at Pondok Cabe.

First sandy par Emil. A well balanced golfer with a lovely bunker strike out of a fairway bunker. I am pretty sure he had another one also but he nailed this one on his first hole (10)

Claudio in the money again mastering the greens this time with low putts 28.

We had two gross 72 rounds last Sunday well don Holger and Anirudh. The heckle I got from these two, Hitoshi and Craig Kecil for winning the longest drive will not be forgotten. Let’s move on.
