Let’s start with Rancamaya as I was actually there for one of the rounds. TeeSet headed off to tackle the DOGS in the final round of 6 at Rancamaya in the now annual Matchplay between the two societies. Squads of 20 players were assembled and Dean paired our players along handicap lines. We looked pretty good on paper, we looked pretty good in our team colours, we looked pretty good getting stuck into pre-game beers, we were battling hard as the beer cart came past and was flagged down multiple times.

Unfortunately we could only managed 3 winners with five other pairings losing by a hole. Close but no cigar. Well done DOGS. The weather held up a treat with a short stop due to a lightning warning. The fairways were fine the greens were a mixed bag of slow, fast, bumpy and ragged. Rancamaya needs to put in a bit of an effort to fix these up.
The Apres Golf activities saw a surprisingly nice buffet served up by the club. Highly appreciated sponsored beers from our friends at SAN MIGUEL, brewers of fine beers. A charity raffle had been organised and well done to all that bought tickets. Another year were the orphans fair a bit better. As the evening progressed spirit bottles appeared on tables and the Boom Box of Sounds appeared. The new popular drink was Gin & Sprite. Most went back to the hotel at around midnight others took advantage of the golfers who’d hired an AirBnB estate and kicked on for a bit longer. A few sore heads were spotted at the Breakfast Buffet and chocolate ice cream seemed to be the most popular item. One golfer was spotted with a bowl of ice cream decorated with a chicken sausage. Probably the only way to eat them. Golfers were receiving messages about missing thongs from Mr Lloyd, who would appreciate the return of the thong.
Sunday herald the newly minted Rod Williams Charity Scramble. I headed for the toll road before it started nursing a sorehead and a level of lingering inebriation that excluded me from the days round. A Filthy Ron’s and a puncture round out my day whilst 36 golfers headed of to play the Vegas Scramble. I have not seen the scores but I did see comments indicating the format led to a most enjoyable day on the golfer course. Hopefully the tail end of the returning Idul Fitri traffic to Jakarta didn’t cause to many hasssles on the way home.
TeeSet Monthly Medal Cengkareng
This month’s medal came a week earlier than usual due to the Rancamaya interruption on our calendar So on the 22nd of March the Kojo Medal was contested at the Manor. 38 golfer were there battling for honours. Included in the group was Geoff Thwaites, medal sponsor, returning to JAkarta after a long stay in Australia. As I was enjoying the Mudik traffic jam I was unable to paly but I did note that the scores were better than we have seen in the previous few editions of the medal. This was mainly due to the course drying out a bit I believe. Anyways a winning score of 42 Stableford points got the job done in March

Craig made money for making an eagle, Brian made money for low gross and the Monthly Medal winner was Michael WWW. Sorry winners for Dean taking up too much of the frame. Nice to see Craig standing on a chair.
Easter Sunday at Gading Raya 5th of April
TeeSet return to the old favorite Gading Raya. Last time we were there it was a bit of a swamp but with big gaps between torrential downpours at the moment, the course has returned to its normal conditions. Get your name registered on the MyGolf2U app ASAP.
Definitely one of the golfer friendly courses, caddies are on the ball, carts are in great condition and have GPS tracking in them, food is above par and beer prices are nearly ok.
